I have a 4040 vevor. I can do everything with it and it is performing well when I manually set the z axis for height. I have read and re-read all the documentation but still am getting an issue and I'm not sure what I am misunderstanding. It is the simple 2 wire round disc 20mm thick probe.

The process I am doing is I go to set the custom offset in the z probe wizard to 20 mm (thickness of probe). then let it run down to the probe (the z is set at 25 mm at this point) and it says to remove the probe and then when I try to run the test hello world it is about 20 mm above the surface.

What am I doing wrong in the process?

Are you pressing "set Z" after the probe routine? If so, don't - the probe routine sets the Z zero.

No i am leaving it where all the x&y are at zero and the z is at 25 (5mm drawback and the 20 mm thick z probe is what i am figuring)

This is the start of the hello world and all I see is the z going to -1.000
I know I am missing something silly and easy on my end.
