Curious if this was intended? I can't tell from the changelog. After updating to 1.0.243: I've never had a 3D View (No WebGL - Sorry!) but now it's there. And it checked for updates, which it hasn't been doing.
Not intentional, just luck. Every couple updates you might see an Updated Dependencies entry in the changelog on the troubleshooting tab. Those dependencies (electron, chromium) probably brought along support for your hardware in their later versions. We try to keep the full stack (code, dependencies, build environment, release and update methods) up to date with upstream developments
