Beginner Leather Strop

Rating:
5/5,
  • Software:
    Sketchup / Openbuilds CAM
    Machine Time:
    4 min
    Bit or Laser Size:
    1/4" End Mill
    Feeds & Speeds:
    33 mm/s
    Materials:
    1/2" Plywood
    5/6 oz Vegtan Leather

I have a thing for knives now. Not an expert at all but it feels very rewarding when you can make a tool thats really sharp. A leather strop with the proper honing compound can get that edge extra sharp.

So i went ahead and made me a strop. This is just a shaped piece of ply with some vegtan leather on both sides ( one the flesh the other the grain ).

But the highlight here should be the new Openbuilds CAM BETA . I don't know what kind of magic they are using but i must say it is amazing!!!!!!.

UI is clean, workflow make lots of sense and its so powerful and simple to use. If you haven't go give it a spin (still BETA).

Attached you will find the source vector plus the OB CAM workspace as an example, just use the import feature.

Once more i would like to congratulate the Openbuilds team for making this possible, im sure many of you out there will also appreciate it.
