What are the options to run, for example 2 nema 23 steppers on y axis and 2 nema 17 on x and z axis. I have arduino with cnc shield and A4988 drivers for nema 17. How could I use both of the motor sizes/types? If I use cnc shield, it plugs on to arduino and nema 23 needs seperate drivers that have to be wired with arduino.. Any ideas? Thank You for Your time and stay safe.

I don't think you can because of the way the shield is populated (although I've not seen it of course). You can however make a new shield with separate feeds for the 4988's and "amped" up drivers for the Y axis but why bother? 4 appropriate drivers would be better - you may want/need to upgrade the nema 17's anyway.
    BTW, what are you building?

I built 50cm x 50cm 2 axis "marker" on 2x nema17, unprecise machine for learning. Now I want to go with more precise build, probably for easy milling/learning.
