Hi Guys, I am looking to build myself a CNC Enclosure. for my Cbeam Machine. Its a Box in a Box design. made up of 5 layers Layer 1 - Outer Most = 1/2" MDF Layer 2 = 1/2" Drywall Layer 3 - Middle = 1" Foam or Insulation Layer 4 = 1/2" Drywall Layer 5 - Inner Most = 1/2" MDF Each layer would be glued togethor using GreenGlue sound adhesive Im looking for suggestions on what to use to fill the 1" gap in middle. ideas like a Rug carpet with Rubber backing, or Cotton insulation, EVA Foam Panels. Rubber Floor Matts not sure what would be the best DIY cheap solution
Cost effectiveness possibly old cotton/denim material you can recycle from home or surplus clothes store. I plan to build a CNC enclosure in future similar to what you describe with inner/outer wall and interior lining. I picked up a batt of rock wool wall insulation on sale to use —it is supposed to have an excellent sone rating for wall sound reduction. Look up “some ratings” for building materials as a guide —installation is key.
