Can someone tell me if this type of prox would work with the BB?

Also can someone tell me if you mount a prox like this? see the attached pic. the grey block is the prox and the red is my gantry plate. the plate moves left to right in the pic. i would prefer not to have to make a target 90° to my gantry plate and make the prox pick up the target.

    THanks

Yes, SN04 NPN is supported (just dont get the PNP type by accident)

They work great. Just set your endstop voltage jumper to 24 v (see docs.openbuilds.com for info).

will it work with the direction i want to mount it also? or will i have to have a target coming towards the face of it?

Don't you need to mount it with the "bullseye" towards the target? If you mount it perpendicular to the field will it work as well? Aluminum works with these but the switching distance is really small, at least with my 3-D printers it seems to be the case (could also be a matter of voltage to increase field sensitivity). How much travel will you actually lose if you mount it longways and add a small steel "L" shaped target to the bottom of the gantry plate? I'd hate to see your gantry slam at full speed into the sensor due to low signal.

These proximity switches have an LED, correct? Plug it in, and run out to next to your plate to see at what distance it will trigger. Steel is good, I think.
