I would start by unplugging the switch wires from the controller, then stick a (ohms) meter across the terminals of the switch and see what you get when its actuated. If its OK, then check at the ends of the wires (connector) while its still disconnected.. You must eliminate that before looking at the controller or something else

I will try that tomorrow, it acts like a nc contact.

    Suspect a bad switch

    Thanks for your input

If you have a bad part, http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home will sort you out :)

That said, its probably more likely wiring, switches aren't very likely to have issues out of the box (can fail after several thousand actuations but thats a couple years down the line)

    Peter,

thanks for the info, I'll be working on the build today and looking at the switch and wiring is on my list!

I agree support has been very good in helping.

I ran the motors briefly on Saturday seem to growl a lot not sure if this is normal.

There is a sine-wave running through the coils, so a gentle hum is normal, growl, sounds like a tiger on the loose :)
Make a recording of the noise and I'll be happy to have a listen and tell you if its normal though

    okay
    Checked wire harness no issues
Checked switch open and closed no change
Removed x limit and put in place of y limit status light went to off, when activated got hard limit triggered
