I have a robotic arm that I will not be using. This is for local pick up in St Louis Mo. What do you have to trade for? Wanting to make a CNC mill / router. Will not ship , Needs to be picked up, weigh about 100lbs

Joe you should never show me things like this! I want to be on a plane out there to get this bad boy right now :D It really is cool man and I would love to have one but with no shipping it makes it too difficult. I wonder if you put it on your local craigs list you might have better luck.
btw is there a controller for this?

If it doesn't include the controller (and I don't see any servo drivers?!), LinuxCNC + 6i25 + Mesa7i76 (my mill combo, plus a 7i85 for encoders that you might also need?) will definitely get it up and running with full inverse kinematics. I snagged a $30 ex-corporate Dell box on eBay to run it on, so the combo's under $350 all-in.

It'll probably involve learning how to manually write HAL entries, which could get interesting. I'm not there yet, but I do have it to look forward to... :p

Thanks Rob looks like we are already off to a good start! Its going to be a lot of fun to dig and and hack something together to see it come to life. I think I will enjoy this even more then if it had the controller ready to run lol :D

Becoming a resource for real, practical, readable, straightforward guides or tips to LinuxCNC would make this place a [-n even more] major destination in the coming years. As people outgrow grbl's axis limitations or want to know the alternatives to Mach 4 (especially for like, plywood machines, 3018 conversions, and other ultra-budget builds), the only real option is LinuxCNC- but it's a massive headache, the wikis are terrible, you have to scrounge for every scrap of information.

Small manufacturing is gonna have to come up with a solution to URs, LR Mates, etc. V-Slot is perfect for robot arms... Just sayin'. ;)

Ok this is a bit crazy so had to share :)
Poking around on the inter-webs this weekend to see if i could get some more info on GlaDOS I found this post on the pi forums from back in 2015. Where a guy named Mark was gifted the same arm for hacking! What are the odds :D
Lots of great info on the arm there as well. Diving in!

Yes that is it. GlaDOS has a sibling, So neat that you have at least some information on the arm to start with. I look forward to see what you come up with.
