    Come and join its new.

Anyone is welcome to join, to chat about all things electronics.. i'm no expert just trying to make facebook life a little more fun. As I learn a bit more about the topic of arduino and electronics its better to share and learn together :)

I'm based in southampton UK and I'm wanting to develop a cnc build mainly to understand about the arduino platform. I'm have a background in manufacturing and lighting design. I like to collect old games machines, the early stuff. And I plan to see just how much of my projects I can make from junk!

Recycling seems like a plan especially how much local places charge for simple things like wire and connectors, yet I live in an area where people throw good stuff away.

    thanks,
    Andy.

I agree there is a ton of waste in this world, my first mill was built in this manor after I had spent my money on a chin cnc board that fried.
I dissected it along with a bunch of electronics such as old pcs and so on.
It saved me a lot of money, also helped teach me about diy electronics and home based PCB making

Absolutely.. my Mill build is a bit on hold because I just don't have the cash to rush out and buy all the components.. but that in itself has a benefit.. I am researching, learning and thinking and this is what leeds us along a path and why every person contributes something new.

So I am quite enjoying that at the moment.

What components do you have in mind to use?
I can help you as much as possible with circuits and such just let me know and if I have info I will share

Well I already have an uno, so I could use a compatible relay/cnc shield. I'm ordering odd bits of electronics (arduino/control) as and when I see bargains on ebay (towards future projects). I'm following the Ox build so to speak, although I want a machine that cuts metals and plastics later. My main reason for going with the Ox is I like the way Mark has explained each step.

I have an Inkjet to strip, I'm not expecting to find anything that will be man enough but you never know what may help. And perhaps I could play with the motor and gain some arduino / program experience.

I will use V slot I think, and I am allowing for a machine that I might just change later so I want to keep things reusable.
I have looked a little bit into videos showing different rigs for screw feed (router) and systems used on mills but what I want first and foremost id to get running. V slot lends itself to 3dP. and that appeals having a go at a printer later.

3d printers are a massive buzz but I am thinking how useful removing material is as compared to extruding it into something. I want a mill first.

So ... sorry for the rant, In looking for similar to Marks on the Ox but I can substitute motors, fixings etc. PC usb cables, wire, tools etc I'm equipt. Its just parts for the build.
Of course there is the plates. I think I will ask somebody on here when I confirm that the Ox is for sure the path I'm taking.

My design may end up being smaller. Its a start up and I suspect that I will possibly develop another and sacrifice the 1st in that. Unless of course its such a beast i want to keep it!

    Andy.
