Part Scaling Issue?

    I seem to have an issue when I translate a part from Solidworks DXF to Estlcam to OpenBuilds Controller to my Workbee 1050. Things seem to be slightly up-scaled somewhere along the way by a few percent. Any idea where to best look to track down the issue? My first thought was the stepper/lead screw values may be off in the controller setup. I don't see any other physical reasons for it. Hoping it's not a software issue.

    Has anyone found a scaling issue from CAD to part?

    Hi Glen,
    Did you calibrate your xyz travel? loads of videos on how to such as this one


    On estlcam settings are very strait forward, set the steps per rev (related to microstep) and the distance per rev, so should be 8mm for openbuilds leadscrew.
    some fine tuning from there can help so instead of 8.00mm you might need a hair one way or the other. After any changes make sure to reprogram your controller in Estlcam.

    I calibrated the Workbee using some of the procedures shown. I have a 0.010" graduated scale so I used 20" (508mm) on the Y axis and 10" (254mm) on the X axis. I used the jog commands to move the desired amounts, noted how far off the pointed cutter was from 20" on Y and made an adjustment in OpenBuilds Control software. I ended up changing the default suggested 199.1 steps/mm to 198.095 step/mm. The same value worked well for the X axis. I was unable to do the same in Z so I assumed it was the same.

    I'll try cutting some material in a series of know sizes/shapes and see how accurate the machine is now. Thanks for all the information.
