The Spice Must Flow: a coreXY Sand Table

A 1.9 x 1 m table that uses a magnet to move a steel ball and draw geometric patterns in sand. The magnet is moved using a corexy mechanism driven by 3D printer controller board reading the patterns in the form of gcode files.

    Great job on this one Mark! I really love the look of these sand tables and hope to make one for the shop soon.

    p.s. I did not know you were the guy who made the fractal hand I have seen this floating around the interwebs for a while and always thought it was awesome.

    Thanks! It was a very fast build for me- most of my projects take me a year or more to finish enough to expose to public scrutiny. I'm still making some small tweaks to some of the mechanical stuff to improve long term reliability- I hate it when things break down and have to be repaired over and over.

    The hand thing was something I did in 2005 while I was learning how to use Adobe Photoshop. I haven't done anything nearly as nice since then.
