Thanks so much for this. I've been struggling to get my machine set up with Tinyg. I was wondering if you may be able to help me out with something however.
When I set up my machine I had used the motors from the store here, then decided to upgrade to a 480 oz stepper in hopes of solving some issues I was having. After doing that I updated the FW on the tinyg and updated the json server. After getting everything set up again, I noticed that when the machine was moving between cuts it was moving at a rate of 2 ipm. Before I updated I never had this issue. In an attempt to fix the issue I changed some settings and now my machine tries to fly when jogging and when starting a job, about 1000 ipm and when it does that it binds up. It is still moving at 2 ipm between cuts. I have a video of what it is doing when I say "Binding up" but don't know how to upload it. Basically if I try to tell it to move more than 4-5 inches it'll move the initial 5 inches then bind up and stop.

Other issues are settings not saving to the board correctly and things of that nature. I'm running the latest FW and have a very similar setup as you. Even when I changed the max velocity to 10 ipm it still gave me the issue.

Again, thanks for the great resource! Also if you would like I can upload a video of what mine is doing.

    Thanks!

I'm a know nothing who is interested in getting into this as a hobby. These videos give me the confidence to make the machine but the part that confuses me is the actual drawing of objects. Not being familiar with CAD, I decided I'd grab a cad drawing (.dwg) that I found on the web and converted it to .svg. I loaded it into jscut to play around, but I get nowhere real fast. Can someone point me in the right direction on tutorials or information on how to properly set up a .svg for jscut?

Trying to look at a "standard" or "normal" TinyG config for an ox type machine...the pastebin link in the video says the page was removed...can someone post it for me, or post your own tinyG parameter dump?

    Thanks

    Hey Akfreak,
All I can say is WOW.. great job.. very informative in every aspect.. I'm fairly new at this but I wish I had all this information before starting my build.... I began to build my OX cnc 2 years ago.. and it took me a year to get all the parts before finishing the build.. It took a while but I was able to do it ( i purchased a few pieces a month, have kids and mortgage, sorry ).. I follow all of Mark Carew tutorials, I got all the same hardware and used the same software he uses. My only concern is that I've been struggling to get a right cut... Meaning when I do a simple circle, I never really get a perfect circle specially if I do it in more than 2 passes.. Its never consistent.. I try to calibrate the machine but I can only do it on one direction. If I fixed the X direction positive the X negative its off. Same with the Y.. Again. I don't know if this is a hardware issue or software...
Anyways, What I'm trying to say its that you are correct about not getting enough info on the Software side of building the OX... I wish someone can do what you did for the gShield, I feel i'm the only one having this issue since I don't see anyone mention this..
    Thanks guy... sorry to vent..
    Thank you again Akfreak

Thanks for the configuration info. I have had to figure out some things for my self. I see you configured your CNC like I had to when I noticed that the chilipeppr logo was backwards. I had to enter the X axis polarity as reversed. Glad I figured that out, I was about to pull the gantry off the table and turn it around!! One question:

When I read the directions to the ox build it says the x-axis extrusion was only 200mm. When I saw that the lead screw I received from open builds was much longer, I decided to go to a little longer extrusion, but the rod still sticks out the bottom and occasionally hits the platform. What lengths are you Z-axis threaded rod and z-axis extrusion? Is your Z-axis only 200 mm?
