I build a version of the Ox and love it. However, I get confused when I get asked, “Is your machine a Vcarve or Shapeoko.”

I’ve run into this a couple of times. When looking to order a suckit dust shoe, it asks if your machine is a Vcarve or a shapeoko.

I found some plans online that I want to try but I have to cut using Easel. In the machine setup section, it’s asking the question. Any ideas on what I’m suppose to choose? Thanks!!

The Ox is similar but waaaayyy better. :)

Actually you are asking a fairly undefined question. Similar in what aspect? The Ox framework is far more rigid than the X-Carve but probably not quite as stiff as the Shapeoko. (The C-Beam versions come a lot closer in matching the stiffness.) The main issue you'll probably find in Easel setup is the Ox uses a 3mm tooth interval on the belts and both of the others use a 2mm tooth interval so you'll need to adjust your step length accordingly. Z-axis interval will also be different.

Your explaination for easel makes sense. I would have never thought about the teeth count.

How about regarding the suckit dust boot? It askes the same question on their site but I don’t understand how it applies as to what will work on my machine. The other odd ball is that my z gantry is different than what the Ox directions called for. I’ll attach a pic.

    I appreciate your help!

Realistically that's a question best asked to the folks at Suckit. They've probably done plenty of adapatations and they will know far more about what's workable with their system than anyone here.
