Hello Forum, Where do I begin?? I make fishing lures i started decades ago on just a standard wood lathe and have since developed a router that follows an acrylic template. Eye sockets, 2-4 mm center thru hole and holes for hooks to catch center wire, are drilled manually on a drill press. the shapes have been nice, but obviously very symmetrical and cylindrical. see attached I have recently taken to learning Fusion 360 and can finally create the intricate shapes that I desire (at least in CAD). I want to take it to the next level(s). This desktop CNC technology has merit which I'd like to explore. attached are several pictures, note the intricate shape of the colored lure and note the face as well. Ideally, i would chuck the stock on the tail of the lure, so i could machine the face and all sides. It would seem top cutting (face of lure) would be easy. Ideally the stock would rotate vertically and the cutter would move up/down/left right while the stock rotates. I would the part it off at the bottom (tail of lure) Where do I begin????
Easiest place to start would be a CNC lathe. If you really want to kick it up a notch though consider a 4 or 5-axis machine.
