Something I've looked into occasionally, definitely a project I want to do, but I haven't come across any solid guides or background info yet. Would be nice not to have to pay for Megascans for everything.

That's not a bad project. The results are... Not great. Seems like you're better off sticking with PhotoScan for reasonable detail, unless the software side of it can deal with significantly increased data input (from a larger number of much higher resolution cameras looking at much higher resolution projected patterns). I'm looking for probably ~5 million points in the cloud, at least. Python doesn't seem like the optimal environment for that, but maybe throwing enough processing capacity at it would do the trick. Certainly something to consider.

I wonder if the iPhone X could be leveraged for this, with the hardware built in for face id I bet it could do a good job. Granted it's an expensive phone, but if you were going to buy one any way it would be a great way to get more value out of the device.

Would probably work but, They would also charge on a per photo basis and offer the IScan software or the i don't care protection in case of stolen identity. Yess you guessed it i hate Apple. Great product, zero openedness
