This video shows an extruded aluminum plate between the C-Beam Gantry Plate and the material being milled.

Can someone tell me what that extruded aluminum piece is? How it's attached to the XL gantry plate?

    Thanks
    Zach

If I wanted to fasten that to the stock minimill plate would use t-nuts in the Rail and screw up from under the plate?

    Thanks

You can but you'll find it can't be removed without disassembling the whole axis. It would be easier to mount from the top. You'll also want to add an 1/8" shim above the gantry plate so the 20x80 piece will have clearance above the end plates.

This might be a dumb question, but could the X linear rail assembly be turned upside down with 1/4 " spacers between the two gantry plates and have the whole X linear rail assembly move?

There's no need for 1/4" spacers. Just connect plate to plate.

    Hi,
I was looking for something like this for my first machine, a mini mill here. The dimensions are 200 x 80 or would 180 x 80 be better? What clamps would be used?
    Thanks for any help..
    Regards
