Fusion file sounds interesting to take a look at if you don't mind sharing it.

    here you go A360
there's actually a reference model within the design I don't know it that will show up if I share this link. in any case let me know if it doesn't look right...

I really like it. But I don't think I can see the "reference model" unless you upload the actual file.

Did you end up attaching the 2nd toolhead? Any updates, pictures or videos?

Yes I tested the 2nd toolhead homing routine video here

Cool video. I bet printing with both heads is even cooler. ;)

Just so hapoened I did have an update :)
So I aligned and calibrated both toolhead offsets last night. I should add a write up on the calibration process. In short it involved shining down light through empty nozzle. Then I started print but had to stop due to oozing. But hey it works! 20171129_010302.jpg

I like your idea "I think I'm going to design a cap so when toolhead is parked, it automatically cap the nozzle thereby preserving the pressure" I'll interested to see how that will work for you.

Good job. Was this printed using both toolheads?

Yub both toolhead on. Left is doing grey and right is doing white.

This looks fantastic @stephen cia . I will be interested to see the fusion file and start printing the parts and see how I go since I have some spare V-Slot sitting around. I will most likely print my parts using PETG.

I'm really flattered that this project inspired other to build one. I have not published the fusion 360 file yet. Yes I have been able to print quite well actually but with single extruder only. the second extruder it works but here's what I discovered:
    - the magnet holding the extruder is a very good concept when I started but it does wiggle slightly in y direction mostly. so when doing overhang if the print knocks the head hard enough the head will deviate slightly. to solve this I intend to add set screw with heat-set threaded insert method. this will secured the toolhead.
    - when printing dual extrusion, the park toolhead leaks a bit. I though about BCN3D where you have purge bucket but I'm trying other solution which hopefully will be better system. I needed a mechanism where when toolhead is parked, some type of high temperature resistant material is automatically raised to plug the nozzle thereby maintaining the pressure. this would eliminate the need for ooze shield and prime tower so saving in filament. this prime tower is ridiculously wasteful

there are other minor thing to modify as well but those above has been keeping me busy

When you are ready I will start printing the parts and start cutting the vslot to suit. The technicalities can be worked out in tge interim I guess. I think another mechanical layer of raising a cap might work out more expensive and complicated than an ooze pillar.

I know that you are trying to get away from using the ooze Shield but I hate to tell you that you might end up using it. It's definitely not the only fix but it's one of the most common fix. Probably setting the Offset from Part to be .2mm with Vertical wall.

I'm hoping that the combination of 300mm/s travel speed with nozzle plug will solve the need for ooze shield. Prime tower is easy to eliminate

So apart from the issue you are facing with the second extruder, are you pretty happy with the left side? If so do you see any changes to that?

The changes I plan to make should also be applied to both extruder for consistancy sake but otherwise left extruder lone printing as of now has been flawless.

Excited... really inspired to make mine as soon as you are ready to release the STL files to start printing parts.
    Many thanks @stephen cia

I found this threaded insert from mcmaster should make wiggle go away. testing it soon

I don't understand where you are getting wiggle from? Are you using the insert to simply lock in contact of a thread to the printed part?

perhaps this 3D views below will help. annotation 1 and 2 are newly added. untested but I think should work

How will the magnets work if this is screwed together?

the magnet's primary function has changed or should I say... evolved a bit. Though it has excellent holding force and has no issue at all of being detached completely from nozzle knocking things around while printing, I notice when this condition occurred, the nozzle will have slight variation in Y direction.

so yes with added M2 screw, the hotend won't be easily swappable but the two magnets will still play their role in holding the top portion and as a guide for the hotend to find its seat when swapped. The M2 screw should keep Z aligned pretty darn perfect

****, this machine looks awesome! I hope you're making progress (if you haven't finished it yet, it's not completely clear to me).

Also, when I saw this, some random ideas from a forum and the Prusa MMU, a crazy idea popped into my head. Thanks!

hey all I'm testing sharing iges file through sketchfab. please see this one and check if you can download the file. I like sketchfab that you can check up the model up close and navigate around the model. they can also do VR if you are into those thing :)

Ok one note about Sketchfab... try avoid opening it at work... some of the suggested model might appear on the side bar and might not be appropriate for work environment... I have brought up this issue to Sketchfab and I think they just shrug it off...

I'm also looking for a way to embed the 3D viewer here in the actual post so no need to jump off to their site :)

unfortunately there's no easy way to include a blow up animation in sketchfab :) that would be awesome though.... It is possible but it involve multiple file extension conversion...
