I like the idea. I have been toying with the idea of a belt driven CNC controlled miter saw stop. I watch an episode of This Old House that had an automatic fence stop. You just had to type in what length you wanted.

Hey matey you say its not going to win you any awards, but you have won one off me because now i now how im going to make a fit out to my cold drop saw we used to have one where i used to work put the measurements into touchscreen pad then the stop would be driven by some motor not hundred percent which one (but assuming you could just use certain size Stepper Motor) to slide along and move to correct position on the track and then you will have the satisfaction of not having to measure up (measure twice cut once) for your first cut, and only really only time did i ever check for right measurements was when we would change out a blunt saw to replace with new one but the size difference in the cutting discs very rarely would they have a diference in width of a few microns so im sure that would be /

    1. very cheap cost for parts APPROX hundred bucks for heap stepper / driver ccheaper if you already got them laying around
the only thing really is couple bearing blocks, bearings, coupler and some sort of drive wheather you use a chain with sprockets or belts with pulleys
and finally the weekend you need to add the mod because no mods are that simple even if they are (MURPHYS LAW i THINK????) always the last bolt that fits, of course extras like the few nuts bolts and hardware ive missed needed for the upgrade/retrofit. and finally

    2. the satisfaction as i stated that you aint measure twice ut one for cutting hundreds of the same size pieces for a job anymore.
SO MATE ITS A WINNER IN MY EYES THANKYOU, IM GETTING RIGHT ONTO IT (SOON AS THE 3 TO 5 METERS OF EXTRUSION ARRIVES
