@killRMODZ Thanks for keeping us update with the pics, looks like your getting there.

@Mika Köpberg 400W will be fine for most tasks, but yes if you would like to cut aluminium then try and get a 800w. I would recommend that dewalt.

You can get that controller, or any other, the controller we sell is a GRBL one, so is a more hobbyist route, it is not compatible with MACH3.

We have got a cable chain kit coming out, will be around £70, hopefully it will be on our site next week.

Other things to think about, is a mount for the router, PSU, Spoiler Board, cutting bits, and clamping system.

For the CAM side, it doesn't really matter what controller you use, as long as the cam software you use can export G-Code.

But the main choice you have is wether to go with MACH3 or the GRBL Route, or even TinyG.

The CAM software i use is by Vetric, they do a range depending on what you want to do. Fusion360 is a good free option.

We wouldn't be able to ship monday, would be wednesday if you bought now, depends on the amount of kit orders that come in over the weekend.

Yes, I have done that. It is sitting on my desk It responds to nothing. Tried most ways of getting in to an XPro, (SPJS with UGS or Chilipeppr, several different terminals, reflashing ). Nothing works.

I haven't a great deal of time to apply to it for a while. Considering options.

    {Oddly, I get notifications of posts on the thread only intermittently. The setting seems to disappear too readily}

I know these machines don't have the rigidity to mill aluminium but would they be capable of purely drilling pilot holes? diecast aluminium, 2-3mm thick, chances are I'd be using the Dewalt 611 spindle.

Edit: I will add the boxes are 50mm tall and holes will be drilled into the top, not sure if they'll be enough z clearance...

I don't think you have a problem drilling holes. How long and wide are these boxes? because you could clamp them in-between the spoiler board supports, which would give you enough height.

Various sizes, longest is 254mm and the widest is 180mm. I currently use a retrofitted mill to machine one at a time and need to streamline things abit as shown in the picture, Idea being able to have various fixtures that clamp to the spoil board and take multiple enclosures.

As of tonight I'm now a satisfied 'Oozenest ox' owner, it's been a long time coming what with work and things, I don't have a fancy workshop to build big projects like this as I live in a 1 bed flat, so it spent some time sitting over the bath on it's base board when I'm not working on it.

I decided to go with a pukka Protoneer Arduino shield running four HY-DIV268N-5A drivers, after having problems with the Xpro V2 board. Now I just need to fine tune everything, after reading online that the 'hy-div' drivers are POS's, they can be set-up with no problems at all and they work fine.

Thanks go to @Mark Carew for bringing V-Slot and the Ox to the community and @Ryan Lock at Oozenest for producing a kit that was very easy to build with his thorough build manual.

@sturgeo I definitely think this is possible. I would probably not have the spoiler board supports, and sit the spoiler board as low down as possible. Then come up with a custom system to mount the different size boxes.

@RichGMD61 Good to hear you got there in the end, hopefully the machine serves you well!

Today we just released a full kit that we have been working slowly on for some time. This builds upon our existing mechanical and uses the CNC xPro controller to make a fully working machine except the spindle.

I have just updated the build with all the manuals, part lists, and models to build our full kit if you would like to source it yourself.

Our full kit can be found here: OX CNC Full Kit | Everything For A Hobby CNC Machine

Many thanks for the support (in background) from Ooznest. 10/10.

Ryan has kindly replaced the xPro, which we suspect is too sick for me to revive, but perhaps can be by the professionals with the right equipment. I haven't yet had time to refit. I shall report back when I get time. To much to do supporting children and grandchildren at the moment.

I am never quite satisfied not knowing why something dies. I shal monitor what I am doing more closely just in case of a recurrence. Fingers crossed.

    Mel.

    Hi Guys.

Firstly let me thank Ryan for the excelent service, I am now a proud owner of the ooznest OX.

I have what i think is a problem. my steppers are making a noise. i have uploaded a video here :

    and here is a f2000 y200 move

sounds like clicking upto a point then it smooths out and you get the "whine" type noise which i beleive is the correct sound?

as you can see this is with the belt off the pully. with the betls on the noise is louder as its transfered through the belts, the noise seems to be less at higher speeds

    so heres the questions,
    is it a normal noise?
is there a setting that ive maybe missed?

i dont think they are faulty as all 4 seem to make the noise. i have tried to lower and raise the current on the xpro and it makes no difference to the noise.

i have measured the movement and a 10mm move on the y axis moves 10mm so it seems to be working just quite noisy

    any ideas?

    update:

i think ive isolated it to the cnc xpro. i have a rotary attachment on my laser cutter which has a nema 23 stepper on it. on the laser its perfectly smooth attach it to the cnc xpro and same problem.
attach ox stepper to laser and is perfectly smooth.

looking like a faulty xpro now?

    Thanks.

Hi to all, hope you are doing fine.

I am trying to figure out how to succesfully set up the home x and y limits, and how to hook up a touch probe for the z axis to my machine (ooznest ox 750x1000).

The controller board i use is an LV8727 4axis board and i use mach3. I would like to ask for help if someone could and know how.
Here is a diagram i tried but i havent experimented a lot, because i am afraid of hurting my board.

For the home switches i dont know how i have to connect them right, should it be NC or NO? I havent set any machine dimensions yet to mach3,
i am not sure how to do so.

For the touch plate i have tried the vb script i found on a youtube tutorial

    ,

and the wiring from another tutorial

    .

The script runs ok but i couldn't make the close circuit to work, so to detect the router bit touching the plate.

Any help would be very apprecieted and welcome. Thank you in advance.

looking at the last diagram you need to connect the switches and the alligator clip to 12v and the NC connectors and the touch plate to LM1 LM2 and LM5

ok so looking at that diagram i cannot see if its no or nc on the switch,

You want to use the NC position on limit switches. If one of your cable breaks, you want the machine to stop.

Thats the assumption i made looking at the diagram. so the probe setup wont work the way it is as the aligaor clip and plate method relies on the NO setup. ie you complete the circuit at the limit,

i think this would work with that board.
use a relay to break the 12 circuit when the tool touches the plate

its very basic but will mimic a switch, the other option is to use a switch instead of a plate to set the bit at a specific height above the work,
for example if you use a microswitch that when closed measures 20mm you can then use that to set the z to 20mm above the work surface everytime.

excuse the photoshop knock up but you should get the idea.

make the block say 25mm high, fit the switch inside the block with enough of switch protruding so that when the block is pushed flat to the surface the switch activates,

Use the COM and NC contacts if you need a break to trigger limit and COM and NO contacts if you need a make to trigger.

    should work

You just have to invert the input in Mach3 to be able to use NC switch connections

Done my first successful commission for my neighbour tonight, after doing a trial on some celotex, its for his son who got a hole in one at a local golf course near Reading.

The one on the right is the prototype. I now need to get a suitable work table made and put in my outside workshop.

@SccS I have the same noise coming from my nema 23's. Have you had any joy with quietening them down?

Hi, them parts used on the power supply in the full kit, we don't sell individually. They can only be bought as part of the kit.

Hi Ryan. Sorry for threadjacking but do you know roughly when you guys will be stocking the C-Beam XL 'kit'? I may end up ordering the majority from you and the rest from the store here but since I'm based in Ireland it would be easiest to order everything from you guys. Thanks a mill.

No problem, we have the kits in stock, we have just been so busy with the OX, we haven't got around to building one for ourselves, picturing it, listing it etc. I will send you a message with the prices.
