I hope she likes her frog! I'm pretty sure she will print the whole family! I'll have to make the 7 hour ride someday to meet you @Robert Hummel . 700km and the language barrier didn't stop us! We will have a frog army! Or maybe an i3 army!

    Robert,
    i3 printer looks nice.
Which model is that extruder? Could you provide a link?
is it a lead screw on the z axis?

    dddman,
E3D V6 is the hotend, not the extruder.
I ask for the green plastic parts in the picture, the part that pushes the filament into the hotend, do you know where to get the stl files?
Also if there're lead screws in the z axis, do you know the part name or the link for the part that holds the leadscrew nut and is kept in place using the vertical linear shaft?
I'm improving my i3 and I really liked the idea of using lead screw for the z axis, I think it could stop z-ribbing in my prints.

See if any of you guys might be able to give me some input. I have an OX running a hobby CNC board and im having difficulties running slower feed rates but none at all during higher here are my motor tuning in Mach3. All steppers are having same problem and same setup. Also I did check my grounds like Robert suggested all look good. Only motor thats not doing this is my Nema17 on the z axis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Velocity 1000
    Acceleration 200
    G's 0.020395. . . . .
    step Pulse 5
    Dir Pulse 5

Also i am running 1/8 micro stepping on an older computer i see this the worst when changing directions or making a slow diagonal cut. Could this be to much processing for my computer

Very nice job on your Ox. I am wanting to build my own Ox. I am pretty new to the CNC world but am wanting to learn. I think an Ox would be a great first build. Wondering how much for your parts shipped to Utah. Please email me when you can [email protected] thanks for your time.

On the Nema 17 motor for the Z axis, what is the purpose for putting so many spacers on it? Is it better to be up higher?

Most of the time when you see spacers or risers on a motor mount for a lead screw driven axis Like the Z axis. They are there to allow clearance for the motor / rod Coupler. Like this sketchup example. If the Motor was to be mounted directly to the plate without spacers you effectively lose travel distance by the space that would be taken up with the coupler.

I'm looking to order some V-slot. I was trying to figure out what sizes I need to order. Do you have any good pictures of the base?
I'm going to make mine 40"x 30" (1000mm x 750mm) and just need to figure out how much of each sizes I'll need. If you could post a few pics of the base that would be awesome. Thank you

Hi Robert, I have been trying to get templates for the plates which I can print on my inkjet print, then hand cut the plate from aluminum scaps that I buy from Lifetimer Boats for $2.50cdn / pound. Everything I download from OB will not print at actual size and will not give me dimension so I could hand draw my own. What would you charge for some actual size templates. Also how much are your plates delivered to Cowichan Bay, BC, V0R 1N1?

    Try this:
    http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/114462

I select "parallel projection" and then "top" from the "standard views" menu

Also see the dimensioning tool from the "large tool set" available on the "view" > "tool palettes" menu. http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/94982

I've used it successfully to make some parts by hand see http://imgur.com/a/CbSmt

Thx Kerry, I tried it and it works but not very good, unless I missed something. I got another suggestion from Kyo that I will try.

Ya sketchup can be a little finicky about the process.

Another tip that helps is to size down your sketchup window from being maximized to just large enough to display the model.

What i mean by this is instead of having your window like this:

You want to minimize the amount of white space around your model like this:

Also you want to change the settings in the print dialog box from:

mainly unchecking the "fit to page" option and fixing the the scale, to this:

No, I didn't, I just made some generic aluminum plates for the intial build and will route my own with my OX. I am almost ready to assemble but got distracted by my Segway build.
