On the standard Acro 1515 kit, any reason why stepper motors are very hot, not warm, hot to the touch, all 3, just after startup and homing, not even running any jobs. I have 230V set on PSU for UK and using Blackbox X32.
No I've not done that, now I'm wondering what else I may have missed off...... I used the 2 videos to build the kit, but suspect I really should do more reading, is there anything else I should consider as part of the build ? thanks.
As far as you got, probably not much else that might be missed. But do peruse start [OpenBuilds Documentation] a little, lots of good info in there, the Grbl wiki is a nice read too (Grbl v1.1 Configuration)
Thanks, as the acro doesnt have a Z axis, what would happen if I was to run gcode through the blackbox that used G1 movement in the Z axis, would this just be ignored and continue to run through thee code with the X and Y or produce an error and stop. I will test, but if you know anyway that would help, thanks
Correct, you may feel like the machine does "nothing" while moving the nonexistant Z but you'll see the DRO numbers updating as a reminder. Use a Laser CAM though, so it doesn't have Z moves Lightburn / docs:software:lightburn [OpenBuilds Documentation] or OpenBuilds CAM (Assuming you are building a laser?)
Thanks, I'm coming from other software that generates gcode with a Z axis, it also operates M8/M9 which I was hoping the coolant connection would do. Thought it would be easy to simply use same Gcode, but on testing there are other codes, i.e. M12 which are not understood by openbuilds control, although simulation works ok. Is there any way to handle unused codes like M12 or do I need to just use another program that takes a SVG and turns it into Gcode but with a M8/M9 option ?
