I primarily machine long items mounted vertically on my machine. The pieces vary in the Y direction from .375" to .750". It appears I would not be able to use the OpenBuilds ProbePlus on such narrow stock. If I DIY a narrow plate will it work to probe for x, y and z using OpenBuids Control? What is the correct way to wire a 2 wire probe to the BlackBox? Is there a way to disable probing for the tool diameter?

2-wire probes - see the Z-probe example in the documentation: docs:blackbox-x32:connect-zprobe [OpenBuilds Documentation]

Tool diameter is optional (only the AUTO tab does it, others does not) - play around in the software to familiarise yourself with all the options

Custom probe dimensions are supported in CONTROL > Probe Wizard > Probe type: Custom (click gear icon to set offsets) - just remember to switch between custom and XYZ Probe Plus if/when you switch operations and use the XYZ Probe plus instead of yours and vice versa.

    Thank you for the info.

I made a quick plate this morning and connected it per the documentation. When I touch the plate to the tool the troubleshooting tab shows triggered and the probe indicator lights on the BB.

If I initiate any of the single axis probe wizards, no motion occurs. If I unlock the alarm, it shows as Error 1 "Letter not found". After this unlocking, I can re-initiate the probe wizard and it will move and stop appropriately. The pop-up indicating it is complete and to disconnect the probe shows and I dismiss it. I then am unable to move anything until I again unlock alarm and get error 1 again.

This one fail, one probe sequence repeats.

Any suggestions as to where to go from here?

Did you work through all the setup documentation during initial setup? Sounds like you possibly skipped over step 7.1 (7.2 relates as well) of the BlackBox Documentation docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox > x32

I just re-read 7.1 and figured out I missed updating the control prior to flashing. I've now updated the control, and re-flashed the firmware. The probe cycle is working as expected now.

Thank you again. As they say, the devil is in the details.
