Hey everyone, I am relatively new to CNC. Have a custom lead machine (500x500) and I am 3d machining pieces of wood, 6"x6"x1/4" thick. Using the bit documentation, I can see that recommended feedrate is 40 (20 plunge). Which material is that for? Right now I am using it for cherry, beech, walnut, etc. And they all seem to be cut pretty well. So I am thinking maybe I could increase the feed? But not sure by how much. If recommended feed is 40/20, which feed would you choose for hard maple / walnut / cherry respectively? Thanks,
Trial and Error: wood is a very inconsistent material, no one can give you exact numbers. Do a conservative set up, let it run. If you hear the cut is going too fast, or too slow - use the Feed Override slider to compensate. Then you have an idea for the next cut - say your old recipe was too conservative you could dial in +50% Feed, then on the next CAM setup, up your last feed rate accordingly
