Im having a little trouble. I have used Mach 3 in the past and this was no problem. Maybe Im missing something simple.

While cutting a job I had a false limit switch shutdown (I think I bumped the Y switch). Anyway it shut me down and recommends re-home. I am over an hour into the job. So I have two questions
    1. How do I determine the last line of code that was cut?
    2. How do I restart the job from that line?

In Mach 3 it is fairly simple, it has a start from here option where you just type in the line of code you are on and it starts cutting again from that line.

    thanks
    Sean

After a little more searching here in the forums I have found several threads dealing with this. It appears that its not really an option, at least not an easy one. I have restarted the job and I guess I will just air cut for an hour.
    pretty frustrating.

Learning to hand-edit sections out of the file is not terribly difficult. But yes, it is best done manually so you as the human can make sure:
    - All modals are set correctly
    - Suitable Entry moves added - particularly if the machine lost position

Ok. Thanks. I am comfortable editing out previous lines and keeping modals. This time the machine kept position, so would have been as simple as editing out the previous lines and then Run Job from there? I started to go ahead and do that but didnt know if the software would support that as an option.

    Basically yes :)

Just keep modal headers in tact - gcode is a conversation and earlier commands stay active.

Don't do it on a good piece of material. Try the editing out on a scrap piece first. The mistakes you'll make will show you how to do it right on the good piece! I learned it the hard way in Mach3.

Use the software that you used to create toolpaths, edit the toolpaths, selecting toolpaths not yet cut, including the toolpath just before the machine stopped, and create new toolpaths. For example, you're making a sign that says "Hello, World" and the machine stopped at the letter "W". Edit the toolpaths so that the machine starts at the letter "W" and finishes the job.
