    Hi

my y1 is stable but y2 is intermittent in direction but step may be consistent. It is hard to tell. I have checked connections. They seem ok. Could this be a symptom of a broken stepper motor.

Also I put in a new Interface, the BB is 2.7. It seems that all the jumpers are in the correct place for new Interface. The old and new Interface exhibit the same problem. Could I have messed up something in the BB?

    your help is appreciated

I know you said you checked the connections, but that really is a typical symptom of one poor connection out of the four . Check that you haven't clamped onto the insulation instead of the bare wire.
