I completed the build of my ACRO 1515 (1500 x 2000 mm) system with the Axidraw z-axis servo assembly (see attached image). SETTINGS: PWM scale 0-255: $31=255 Absolute servo position: M3 S255 For the Grbl Flashing Tool: Machine Type: OpenBuilds Acro with Servo Pen Attachment > OpenBuilds Acro 1515 with Servo Pen Attachment Wizards & Tools: Calibrate Servo Pen-Up/Pen-Down: Pen-Up = 255, Pen-Down = 71 CHALLENGE In the Control view, the Pen Up and Pen Down work as expected. The Z+ and Z- jog buttons do not move the servo at all. When clicking on each, I get the following output in the console: [14:39:11] [ $J=G91 G21 Z-1000 F5000 ] ok [14:39:15] [ $J=G91 G21 Z1000 F5000 ] ok Ideally, I would like to jog the Z+ and Z- so that I can set it for the home position. Suggestions?
Correct, as the Pen is a Tool, not a Z axis. You can mount a pen holder on a machine with a Zaxis as well, thus the seperation. The Acro doesnt have a Z axis thus nothing happens, other machines do It is addressed as a Tool, using M3Sxxx commands as intended. Acro/2axes firmware builds has Z axis homing disabled.
Ahhhh, ok, thanks Peter. When facing the front of the system, if I want to move the default Point of Origin from the Back-Left to the Front-Left (to be identical with, e.g., Adobe Illustrator's Point of Origin), what's the trick? I currently have my X-Limit on the left of the x-rail which is working as expected. The Y-Limit is in the Back-Left corner. The Y-Direction in the Grbl Settings is current inverted.
Grbl settings > homing direction > select from the dropdown where X and Y has invertion (eg $23=3 for example) But keep in mind Job Origin is NOT set by homing, but by jogging to where it should be then Zeroing. Work coordinates (set by zeroing) is an Offset from Machine coordinates (set by Homing)
