First, my goal: The project is a doll house elevator that goes 3 stories, in ballpark of 30" of travel, and able to stop at each level (I can handle the software part, just don't want it to slip). Accuracy is not a big concern. Also I happen to have some nema 17 stepper motors laying around, if those could be used, super. My "research" lead me to something like this: V-Slot NEMA 17 Linear Actuator Bundle (Belt Driven) Would that handle vertical movement for a lightweight application? I wouldn't want something that started slipping over time if it is not meant for vertical travel. Thanks!
As you mention doll house, I am sure the weights would be negligible, so it would be totally fine - checkout https://openbuilds.com/uploadfiles/Part Specs/OpenBuilds® Actuator Tests_V2.pdf for more information. Make sure your software keeps the motor enabled (braked) when not in use to prevent slipping.
