    Hi

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I didn't know where else to post this.

I keep getting tear out o in open pockets on the right corner. Pictures included.
Bit used is a up cut bit, rotation is counter clockwise.
Fusion 360 file included if you want to look at it the settings.

I'm looking for a better strategy to stop that.

Seems like I heard a while back that one way is to wet the edges with water.
    I never tried it though.
Another one was use a Down Cut bit? IDK.

    Advice?

Well, you could try clamping a piece of scrap wood in that area so that the scrap takes the hit rather than the work piece. I bet the left side is fine.

cutting anticlockwise, so the cut is starting at that point, right?
I would try an adaptive clearing with light cuts to just clear that start point to about 3/4 bit diameter. You would have to add a containment sketch.

after a little starting pocket the full pocket can be cut.

or, make the material 1/16"+ larger on that side and do a facing cut after the pocket is cut, this would remove the chipout area.

Painters tape works well as well, definitely want a downcut, but if you cover the area in painters tape, it will help reduce tearout, I use that on plywood when using my hand router and circular saws.

Yes where the tear-out is is where the bit enters the wood.

Another vote for sketch-contained 2D adaptive/contour/whatever. Something that slowly peels away at the outside a little in that area with semi-circular cuts and doesn't take out a substantial chunk attached to the outside edge ahead of the cutter's direction of travel. Doesn't need to go far in, I'd probably do 2x cutter diameter rather than 0.75x, but it doesn't really matter either way.
