All screws are M5 diameter. The length is dependent on the part being attached. Most attachment use 10mm length.

Keith, do you have an updated BOM for the max? The link for the pdf seems to be broken. Thank you

    Hey Keith,

Noticed my “ Z screw shroud “ printed out with the screw heads on the part??? Probably an artifact from pulling it off the main model. Also noticed this on one power supply or controller plates. Can’t remember what one. I went in F360 and cut them off. Had to study the part a little to figure why is was not a thru hole and what the bump with a hex was far. Lol

Hi Keith, I have started using this design and am very happy with it. The only problem I have is the bottom frame has two left hand side corners and no right hand corner at the back. is this something you can easily fix or should i using something like fusion 360 to recreate it. I assembled the other three sides but went to do the back right and realized it didn't fit as it was a duplicate of the left. Thanks Michael

Michael, look at my Oct 14th post from Keith. He posted a link for the corners to me.

HI Wilber the link doesn't work if it's this one.
    http://3dwrx.com/VulcanMAX/frame-corners.stL

Also if you look at the image you can see the back ones are the same. Weirdly though they look like the same but opposite to what I have downloaded from the zip file. For example the download I have has 2 x left sides but the picture thumbnail shows 2 x right sides. Hopefully I have this totally wrong and one of you can say no you have it the wrong way round or something but it doesn't look like it.

Can you help me because I must be missing something. The rear brackets look just the same both are pointing in the same direction. I can't see how one of them could fit the rear right. Should one not face left and one face right?

You print once the original .stl file that Keith posted. After that you flip/mirror it in the slicer software, as Keith suggested, and reprint. You now have 8 pieces! You need 2 of each and you have a spare set for just in case!

This set of stls are for a 8" x 8" print bed. the set includes printed brackets for mounting the controller box and the PSU, eliminating the need for the ABS plate on the bottom of the printer

Hello, I am going to be building the Vulcan MAX as my first scratch build 3d printer. I had a few questions I was hoping to get answered.

    1. Is there any sort of list for the hardware required, as there is none on the BOM.
    2. Will I run into any issues if I use 48mm Nema 17 motors rather than the 40mm ones listed in the BOM, as I already have them.
    3. Is there any tapping or drilling required for the extrusions.
    4. I have a 12V power supply, will that be sufficient?
    5. The Heated bed I own is 300x300mm rather than 310x310mm, do I need to modify the end-stop positions.

    Thank you.

1.consult the assembly guide Build VulcanMAX
2.A 48mm motor will be too long for the Y axis (extending below bottom of printer base), and too heavy for the extruder motor
    3. Tap 5mm threads in the ends of the Y axis extrusions. Self tapping screws may be alternately used.
    4. A 12v psu will take a longtime to heat a 300x300mm bed
5 All endstop brackets can be adjusted on their extrusion mounts to your desire.

Hi Keith, thank you for responding so quickly.

The BuildVulcanMAX link you provided to me (Build VulcanMAX) is different than the one posted on the OpenBuild description (VulcanMAX Assembly Guide). Just checking to make sure there is no difference in the two.

The (VulcanMAX Assembly Guide) uses printed mounts for the PSU and controller board, the other one mounts them on a sheet of ABS. Your choice.

The printed mounts are easier since the mount holes are printed in correct positions, whereas those holes need to be drilled in the correct positions on the sheet

Keith, in your Vulcan max assembly guide step 29 there is no STL for the nut holder and cap with the Z stop adjuster 3mm hole. All your STL downloads contain only the shorter nut holder and cap (twice).
Just thought I'd let you know.

Hey Keith, was just wondering if the two 7mm holes on the aluminum plate on the instructions are correct. Doesn't make sense to put a 5mm screw in a 7mm hole.

If you look on the Build tab, you will see links to probably everything you need to build this.
Here is the link for the build guide from that page. Build VulcanMAX (3dwrx.com)
