Z Axis configuration assistance...

    hello,

    i have recently upgraded my Shapeoko 2 to use OpenBuilds Blackbox and some other components. which excellent. im just have one issue. in the OpenBuilds cam software. im still using my original leadscrew
    PS20011 M8 x 1.25mm Threaded Rod Stainless Steel, 200mm.

    This issue the Grbl z steps\mm ($102)setting. I've used a couple of different Calculators and the numbers I'm getting are all wrong. So the calibration is wacked. Can anyone assist?

    Motor physical steps = 200 (for standard 1.8deg motors)
    Microsteps set to 1/8th for example: 200 * 8 = 1600 microsteps per rotation.
    Leadscrew pitch is 1.25mm per rotation you say, so 1.25mm (movement) per 1600 steps (rotation)
    To get from 1.25mm to 1mm (for steps per mm) we do 1/1.25 = 0.8 * 1600 = 1280 steps per mm.

    That is worked out from the 1.25mm pitch you provide along with the assumtion you are using 1/8th microstepping (Default on our electronics)

    i forgot to mention that i'm still using the NEMA 17. does that change that calculation?

    Check your motor specs, most motors are 1.8deg (regardless of size) but its not a given of course, some are 0.9deg (400 full steps)
