Hi. I’ve been building a project using v-slot, a number of 3D printed parts and some custom alloy plates. I’ve nearly finished it and want to share it here. At the same time I think it has some commercial application as was wondering if anyone has experience of monetizing projects? I’m uk based but would like to sell in the US as I think the market for my project is much larger there. Shipping would be an issue so. I’m considering becoming an openbuilds affiliate and offering the plates and printed parts for sale. Early days but I’m thinking it’s about the only way I can realistically access the us market. Any thoughts?

Well, this is kind of an open source site, so if you have some novel concept you may want to look for investors. A good example would be the Sphinx that was designed by forum member Kyo and the files were put up here for others to build it as well. It was popular enough that it was offered for sale as a kit via the OpenBuilds Part Store. It was even cloned with inferior products and sold under the same name by some Chinese companies.

That being said, I am very curious as to what you have come up with, and would love it if you shared it so we could offer further ideas if you wanted feedback.

This is it as it stands. An artist studio wall easel with others in the pipeline including a floor
Standing version and a ‘lite’ version. I’ve got to make some modifications and create a BOM. I’m thinking about offering a kit and a completed version. It hangs together with various custom plates and some 3D printed parts.

What purpose does it serve.. Is it a solution in search of a problem that does not really exist, I mean it is nice looking.. and may (I am not an artist, so I don't know really) provide functionality. I'm confused as to what you are trying to accomplish to be honest.

first one made using this method.
    Available in kit form
    Expandable
Can accommodate very large, very small and multiple
    Paintings.
    Completely rigid, no unwanted movement
Can be converted into/between wall or floor mounted versions.
Can be made in a variety of sizes.
    Improves in current market offering.
    Gives customers more choice
    Why not?
