Can you please advise me on how to import files (which was downloated from the Openbuilds Internet) to my computer Sketchup System? I have the Sketchup System up and running on my computer and I'm able to play around with the features. I'v been watching the tutorial videos on Sketchup and have learned a lot. In doing so, I can't tell if I'm learning all of the things needed to design things that can be build on a Openbuilds Router that I plan on building. I want to progress to a point that I feel confortable with the Sketchup software, before I actually build it. I want to make sure that I can utilize the Sketchup software before I spend all of the money just to find out that I can't get it to work properly on the Openbuilds Router. For this reason, I have been trying to import the OX Plates, so I can see how things should look like. The problem I'm having is that although I have the downloaded file on my computer, Stretchup does not recognize the file and therefore the file can't be imported.

Sketchup doesn't open .dxf files. If you have the pro version, it can import them but the free version won't. But you really don't need to anyway. The current plates are in the V-Slot OX_Build_80 11.15.2014.zip file listed under the files tab.

If you need a .dxf viewer, a free one can be downloaded from Autodesk.

It appears that the files for the Openbuilds OX Plates has already been updated to the 2015 version, because, when I attempt to import the unzip files and attempt to import into Sketchuo 2014 vista, I receive an error stating that; An error has occured; because the system can't accomodate 2015 files.

Where do I go from here? It seems like that I keep running into road blocks, no matter what I attempt to do.

Not sure why that is happening. I'm running v2014 in XP. When I download the V-Slot OX_Build_80 11.15.2014.zip and fully unzip it, I get the option of v7, v8, and v2014. The unzipping process is fully independent of Sketchup. Do you not get the following?:

I'm getting the exact files as you presented on your reply. Even the size of the files are the same. I can't even access the Sketchup software now to try the upload again. When I attempt to open Sketchup on my computer, I receive a message stating that my 8 hour license has expired. I thought this down load copy was completely free. Am I wrong or should I be downloading from another source. Not sure what to do at this point. I attemped to delete the copy I had on my computer and redownload it again, but then receive the same message. Can yo help me with this problem, as well. Thanks,

Download SketchUP MAKE as opposed to the PRO version. They both go into a full access demo for the first x days or so. However, the PRO demo stops working if you don't buy the license WHILE the MAKE version goes into the more limited free version once the evaluation done. At least that's what I just went through (the hard way as well). Don't get too used to any of the PRO feature or your wallet will hate you. o_O

To make things more confusing, the MAKE page has the button "Download SketchUp" (doesn't say it's for the Make version until you hit it and land on respective page).

    Have fun ...

Unfortunately that link goes to the 2015 version of Make. He may need to contact Sketchup to be able to get to the 2014 version of Make as apparently the readily accessible old version download site only provides the Pro version. (You can google "Sketchup Make 2014" but I don't know how much I would trust the websites offering it.)

I was able to download another copy of the Stretchup System off of the Internet, which is running fine now. Hopefully, this version will not expire in a few days. However, I still cant' upload the V-Slot OX Build-80.11.15.2014.skp files. The system does not reconoginize the skp files. Can you please help me solve this problem? I can't seem to locate any documentation that explaines anything about importing file. So I'm at a lost at this point.

I down loaded and installed version 8 onto my computer. It seems to work exactly like 2014 version that I was using previously.

    Please advise!

Additional information regarding my inability to import SKP files. I located a Plugin on this web site that pertains to export files. The plugin converts SKP format to DXF. I'm not attempting to doing any exporting of files at this point in time, but was thinking that if the Sketchup (ver 8) didnot accomodate for the format while exporting, then they probably didn't accommodate for in in IMPORTING of files either. Therefore, there must be a plugin to accommodate for the situation somewhere. I've searched for one, but so far I havn't been able to locate one.

    Please help with this matter!
