    Hello All,

Been having a heck of time.

Cutting out some ornaments from Corian and the machine is just very unpredictable.

Is this yet another case of EMI? I haven’t changed anything, machine has been running essentially flawlessly for a year...same computer same usb cord same everything.

    Thank you for any help,

    Don

Those all look like tell-tale signs of serial data corruption, of which EMI is the usual suspect. But also check and reinstall FTDI drivers - as Windows Updates could have messed with drivers by itself

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for the reply...Windows did update recently on that computer...wondering if that might be it? Again, otherwise the setup is the same as it has always been...it is very much winter here in New Hampshire and the air / relative humidity is quite low...LOTS of static. But I'll check / reinstall the drivers. Maybe try a different computer too. And of course...any improvement to EMI mitigation never hurts either.

    Thank you again!

    Don

PS - Again, do you ever sleep? :)

I never get issues with EMI as I use Cat6 Cable for my Stepper Wiring and Home Switches. Drivers, Windows Loves screwing them up after Updates. So I purchase a Raspberry Pi 400 and installed the Blackbox Controller Software on it. Works like a charm as you can disable the Network while you're cutting.

    Hello Again,

This may not be the right thread and I apologize if that's the case.

Any other suggestions? I'm still stuck.

    Lead Machine 1010

    1. Re-routed all wiring the best that I can to be not near anything else
    2. Changed USB cable
    3. Moved control board as far away as possible (Spark Concepts Xpro V4)
    4. Tried different RPM with the router (DeWalt) - I don't really know how to 'earth' the router
    5. Tried with and without limit switches enabled
    6. Tried different g-code (I have always used "Easel" to generate the g-code
    7. Tried with and without running the shop-vac
    8. Updated Windows / uninstalled / reinstalled every driver I could find
    9. Completely uninstalled / reinstalled "Control"
    10. Tried several older releases of "Control"
    11. Reset the control board (EEPROM / and the other 'reset' option)

Unfortunately it doesn't fail in the same place or give the same error. I still suspect EMI but not sure what else I can do?

Could it be hardware? The Xpro is failing?

    Other things I can try?

With the router running but 'air cutting' it ran all code fine...it's only when actually cutting.

Thank you all for any thoughts and help,

    Don

Is the corian maybe generating a lot of static electricity?

Throw some ferrite cores on every cable

That is something I didn't even consider...that the Corian material itself might be extra 'static-y'....

    I'll keep investigating.

    Thank you again

    Just had a successful cut.

I had to disable my limit switches because turning the router off caused an alarm...

But similar to the 'mod' pictured, I used a piece of 20'ish gauge wire I had attached to the router with the same black screw...then "plugged" the other end directly into the ground port of the same outlet the router is plugged into.

If you search "how to add three wire plug to DeWalt 611" you'll find the mod...definitely something I'm planning on doing now.

Thank you again for the help...mostly there now.
