    Hello All,

I'm not getting the same size work page in the Openbuilds machining page as I have created in V-Carve Pro. It was working just fine that last time I needed to send a file to the CNC, but when I check the page size, its small at the machine? What am I missing?

Which post processor are you using when you save your toolpath in Vectric?

There is an Openbuilds post processor for Vectric

    docs:software:vectric [OpenBuilds Documentation]

Could you please post the first dozen lines of your g-code - it would be useful to know if the post processor is the cause of the issue.
    Thanks, Alex.

Also are you up to date with your Vectric software?

5DE18BCB-77B4-44A3-A313-E8E12C4C4812.jpeg I don’t know why the text is in the upper right, because it should be centered in the outline. But I went ahead and ran the files, and I worked out right.

could it be because I didn’t see all of the files at the same time?

The grid autoscales to the extent of the gcode, it doesnt know how big the stock is. Blank space to the right and top, falls outside the extent of the gcode

Would making a box the size of the page in V-Cave, and then sending it as a profile path then represent the material size?

mom used to using the outlines in CorelDraw with my laser to located things properly.

The profile file wouldn’t be used for anything but location visual purposes, and would not be machined.

Your CAM solution is used to line up and lay out the work. Gcode senders never does that function. It has no need to, gcode comes from CAM (vcarve is a CAM)
All CONTROL does is send along the gcode to your controller

Refer to docs openbuilds.com > software > overview

Lining up to physical stock is done only by matching where you had the origin in CAM and setting Zero in the same spot relative in the real world.
For example, if you CAMed off the bottom left corner, you setzero on the bottom left corner. Refer to the Hello world tutorial to learn more docs:blackbox:hello-world [OpenBuilds Documentation]

More advanced than bottom left corner:
If you CAMed with the origin in the center of the Work, you mark a center point in your stock, position it on the bed, jog to where you made the Mark, Zero out X and Y, then slowly zero Z

Sorry for the delay in reply, had some things come up and was unavailable. That all made since and I'm seeing what I was missing. Thank you all for the assistance, While I'm on here , I'm needing to get a remote controller hooded up and E-STOP, and I was wondering what if and tutorials there may be on this topic, and which type of remote controller might be best recommended? Thanks Again Guys

That is a good find. I wish I had seen that.

I went the harder route and will have to do my own wiring, but this one is made here in the U.S. (as is the one you showed above) so the wiring diagram is easy to interpret...and in existence...and UL rated. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IEM2DSM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit the my version of the e-stop is me hovering my finger over the Y limit switch... which happens to be next to a big red button that triggers the door switch. So no real e-stop in place at all.

Yeah, I do not have one on the lathe at all and could have used one once. That is what I bought that switch for. I have one on my CNC router, but it is on the electronics housing which sits in the cabinet below the machine so it really is worthless as an e-stop. That will be changed when I finish the upgrades.

I want to thank everyone for their comments and advise. I and have been checking them out. I hope that the Openbuilds Controller will be made wireless at some point in order to make it more user friendly. Thanks to All

    Hello Peter,

Yes I did and I also ordered one, but I did notice that it required being wired to I believe the Black Box? The video was rather short and lack a lot of detail about it, however it sounds like it will better streamline the processes. Thanks for the info, I hadn't heard about that device before now.
