Hello all, I came on this forum because I'm a total newbie in the CNC world and I have to finish the build of a screw driven 1000 x 1500 Ooznest workbee CNC. The assembly was not that difficult but I've encountered huge problems with configuring the duet board and the limit switches. The Z axis limit switch red LED is always on on the board without touching the limit switch. If I touch the limit switch it goes off. The X and Y look normal, meaning that the led is turning red only when I touch them. Another strange thing is that in the testing panel of the swithches, the Z axis switch shows always triggered and the other 2 even if the led is turning read on the board show not triggered. If the led on the board for the Z axis switch goes off when you touch the switch do you mean when you operate the lever or could it be you are moving the wiring slightly. If it's definitely not the result of moving the wiring check that the Z axis switch is wired the same as the other two switches - normally closed. Alex.
Thank you for the quick reply Alex! The thing is that the wiring of the Z axis switches is actually different from the other two. When I'm trying to home the CNC it's just vibrating without moving even if it doesn't touch the switches! What are the possible reasons for this because I'm pretty sure that the wiring is exactly as in the provided manual! Liviu
It sounds like that you solved the problem. The switch is wired wrong. Like Alex said, make sure it's connected the same as the other two switches.
It won't move when homing because it thinks the Z switch has been triggered - all homing cycles home Z first so until you re-wire that switch it will be trying to home Z properly - fast move to find the switch, back off (releases switch), slow move to operate the switch more accurately. It won't be getting past the first stage. The wires are soldered to the switch - if you don't have the means to re-solder the wire to the correct terminal drop Ooznest an e-mail, mention my name and tell them you need a correctly wired (normally closed) Z limit switch.
