Thinking that 1.1 is more laser software friendly so tried many times to upload to Arduino. Frustration at max! Question, am I doing this all wrong? Do I need version 1.1? Thanks fellas Walter from snowy Alberta, Canada
we won't know until you tell us what you do? 1) What are you using to upload? Official instructions: gnea/grbl 2) screenshot any errors 3) The instructions for arduino assumes an Official, Arduino Uno. Is that what you have, if not, what do you have
Thank you Peter! Windows 7 pc Arduino UNO claimed to be genuine. Works great with grbl0.9j Unzipped grbl 1.1h Open folder until find grblUpload, selecting that file opens Arduino IDE, Verify goes good, upload looks to work Open gcode sender and $$ gives me grbl0.9 still resides in arduino. I did a file search in windows explorer to locate all instances of grblUpload. Deleted all 55 instances, went back tried again now get error wrt com port not available Open gcode sender, connects fine and runs 0.9 no trouble. Frustrated old guy here. I want to have the laser capability from v1.1 that I presume is unavailable from 0.9 Please help Walter
Are you sure you are downloading from gnea/grbl (v1.1) AT gnea/grbl and not from the old repo (grbl/grbl from https://github.com/grb/grbl/ - don't use that one) Incorrect, refer to the documentation : gnea/grbl You extract it to the Libraries folder, and load the sketch from the Examples menu But, as you have an genuine Uno, you can skip all that trouble, and use the Grbl Flashing tool in OpenBuildsCONTROL 1) install control 2) click Wizards and Tools, Grbl Flashing tool 3) Select OpenBuilds BlackBox from the list, its the same as a genuine Uno
Peter, I just uploaded the 1.1h grbl hex file from github new site. You were correct I was getting the grbl from the old site. Used Xloader and successfully flashed the Arduino with grbl v1.1h Opened grbl controller and $$ shows the $32 that I needed for this laser project. Too old! GrblController is from 2016 or so, long before Grbl 1.1 came out... You need modern software that supports Grbl 1.1 like OpenBuilds Software - FREE Software for CNC Control: OpenBuilds CONTROL and OpenBuilds CAM, cncjs, bcnc, universal gcode sender 2x platform, etc
Used your other link and got it up n running! question tho can you point me to how to edit the cpu_map.h file? I would like to use the 6.8kHz pwm on pin 11 for the laser
My understanding is that the default pwm freq is 1khz and the laser I have ‘liked’ 10kHz better I will try as is and see how it goes
Peter, I have a New Hermes LS200 with a 60w Syrnrad CO2 laser. The Mach3 stepper control died so I am converting to Arduino GRBL. min the Synrad literature it specs 1khz as the minimum freq and an optimal freq of 10kHz. I will give it a go as is I may not be able to discern any difference anyways.

Peter will the GRBL use the proper v1.1h cpu_map.h file seeing as how I cheated the flash to Arduino? Or is it the cam program that finds and uses that file?
Hi Peter new troubles Installed my router into the laser cutter machine Made a project in Fusion 360 Loaded gcode into UGS Platform v2.0 Did a couple destructive moves that I cannot find anywhere in the code.
Include the gcode as attachment, but betting they are in there, machine just follows gcode (; Did you use the correct Post? Fusion 360: grbl post processor install (the easy way)
Thank you Peter, will get the proper post processor installed. Fusion had grbl in the list but it appears some instructions do not work out well lol. I will attach the code when I can. Would the G28 instruction cause the destruction in my model? Walter
