    Hi all,

    I am new to this forum and this CNC world. Completed an OX 1010 CNC mechanical build, now busy with electronics. Got the 24v Maxwell Power supply and Blackbox Controller from openbuilds. Lit it up and all seems well testing on Nema 17 motors. Production machine will drive Nema 23 motors.

    My question is; can the router be connected and controlled by the Blackbox controller. There is a port for spindel but I suspect it to be either 12v/24v/

    The router runs off of 240vac in the UK

    Any help much appreciated. I don't want to blow anything up

    Thanks in advance

    J

    You need some kind of mains safe logic relay. For 110v world we have IOT Switching Relay Power Strip

    Just got to find something similar your side (or just man the power switch manually)

    Thank you for your quick response. Is my understanding correct: Spindel output from Blackbox Controller is just a signal pair, Gnd + Sig - going to a Relay Controller optically isolated but pulling the AC live/not live?

    Clarification would be great as I don't want to blow my Controller box

    Thanks

    Johann

    What Peter was saying is that you can use the output from the blackbox to switch a relay which, in turn, switches a mains socket. Google "IOT switching relay"
    eg; IoT Power Relay

    Thanks Alex, and at the risk of being a nuisance, is the output from the blackbox dc and do you perhaps know that

    Thanks a stack - I am currently looking at options on the Internet and trying to get an understanding

    Yes, its DC. I'm not sure of the voltage and its not listed in the docs. The IOT relay for us 110 folks takes a 3-48VDC signal so its somewhere in that range (up to 24v I would suspect)

    Thank you so much and this will send me on my way now. Looking forward to complete my build and get to the real stuff like making things

    Have a great day

    5v logic (20mA)
    M3S1000 = on
    M5 = off
    M3Ssomelowervalue = PWM (Wont play with a Router, its for lasers/spindles/etc)

    Yes, basically some kind of optoisolated relay/ssr

    For legal reasons of course I can only recommend a sealed off the shelf solution like an IOT relay. But google is a thing :)

    I posted the wrong link above @IndabaLondon (went to the Openbuilds one - nothing wrong with that but I meant to give you a UK source)
