I would like to start off that i am fairly new to the CNC, so if I sound too noobish please forgive me.
I built a lead CNC a while back and decided that I wanted to add a laser module to it. So I went and bought from Amazon a 15w blue laser and installed it on my machine.
I connected the laser TTL into a spindle control on V4 and turned laser mode on in grbl set up as well as 255 max and 0 min in the setup.
The problem I’m having is that the laser stays powered on all the time. I can control the intensity with M3 but M5 and M3 S0 do not turn the laser off.
Would anyone know how to resolve this?

    Thank you

Thank you Peter for your reply. I am on Grbl 1.1f. However the laser is always on and it does not turn off at all with either of the above mentioned commands.

    1. Your laser driver may have inverted TTL logic (add inverter or invert logic by recompiling grbl)
    2. Read the linked Wiki, the commands doesnt do the turning on/off, G1 and G0 does, or use the Laser Test function in OpenBuilds CONTROL.
    3. Make sure $32=1

Sorry for the stupid question. How would I go about adding an inverter?

Before you do, determine if the driver does need one?

Ie 5v into TTL = off, 0v = ON (Inverted)
    5v into TTL = on, 0v = 0ff (Normal)

Let me explain better. With nothing connected to the xpro D11 (spindle control) output is 0v measured with multimeter. By connecting the ttl into the xpro without doing anything other then plugging in. The laser turns on and Xpro shows 5v on the multimeter.

    Hello!
    Jacek from Poland.
I'm connecting to a topic, how should a 15W laser module be connected to CNCxPro v4?
I have a problem with laser power control.

    Thanks!

PWM to Laser module's PWM input

Did you work through gnea/grbl though to understand the S-parameter, Laser Mode settings, etc

    Hi,
actually it's ok, but I can not switch off the laser modul .

With help comes rotary resistor on laser controler.
This rotary resistor ( blue) close to TTL connector.
You must turn it to desactivate laser burn.
    Just stay orientation piont.

    Regards

Set grbl laser mode. Read the link shared above. Pwm signal from Grbl into ttl port also controls power

Yes, I was read this .
I understood that so, 0 PWM leave the voltage up 0V and my laser module is still on.
Maybe is something else to do, but I can not find the detail.
I was make decrees power of laser on controller and I got orientation point.
Now I am waiting for parts from Openbuilds and I will be assembling the engravering plotter.
For this project I will use last CNBC xpro v4.
And next realization will be on Black Box.

    Did you set LaserMode ($32=1)

    Yes, in first step.
    My engraver is working well.
Laser in dynamic mode is working .
