Can someone here enlighten me how the anti-backlash nut is assembled? I understand how the nut is attached to the axis and that the set screw is used to put pressure on the threaded rod to prevent slop when the direction of the lead screw is changed. However, what is the stop nut used for that is included with the anti-backlash nut?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The lock nut is used to help prevent the set screw from loosening.

    It's a jam nut.

I missed this step in the initial build & had to disassemble the whole X & Z rails to adjust it. Tighten the grub screw to adjust the backlash on the threads of the lead screw & lock it down with the jam nut.

So do you need to have it on there? In the lead build video they don't put it on there that I can see.

Yes, otherwise vibration will slacken off the adjustment and your anti-backlash nut, will be just like an ordinary nut, as there wont be preload anymore

Ok, I am trying to figure out the steps to tighten that in there. Do you run your lead screw in and get it tightened into the c-beam end mounts, then you tighten the anti backlash screw and nut in? I'm having a hard time visualizing how to get it put together right since it is all put together without the screw and nut now. Just trying to figure out how many things need taken apart. You should tell them to put a note on the build video since they left that step out or I am blind. Which could also be true. LOL

    This.

The build video completely ignores the setscrew and locknut & just seems to install the bare block.

One of a list of gripes, complaints, and occasionally constructive critiques about the video that might someday get typed in from my notes. Eventually. Maybe.
