HI all. I'm in the middle of obtaining parts for my CNC Sphinx and got some 8mm Lead screws and the coupler from the OB parts store.

I'm still new at this but I tried to fit the two together and neither side works. The coupler is the 1/4" x 8mm Flexible Coupling and the Lead Screw is the 8mm Metric. Did I order the wrong part.

I have tried 3 times to get in touch with the OB parts store by leaving a msg about this, but nothing yet.

I'll take a leap of faith and say that you didn't contact them during the weekend for all three of your attempts.

Moving past that... Did you loosen the retaining bolts on the coupler?

Thanks for getting back. No it was on three separate days, midweek. I have loosened the 2 retaining screws and the set screws. The lead screw fits with the set screw snugged down, but the gap is pretty big. I thought that it would be be a snug fit.

Is there an order on which to tighten first? Set screw then the retaining screw would be my guess.

But what do I know I'm still very new to this CNC

    thanks

All that matters is that it has a good firm grip. If the screw doesn't rotate in the coupler or pull out that's all that matters.

yeah the 8mm side is a loose fit on the openbuild screw, I used a couple layers of aluminum foil duct tape to take up some of the gap.
Clamp screw and then setscrew makes the most sense.
