    See, I mostly agree with you. Except I got so fed up that I stopped at "I wouldn't trust that board". :)

    Thanks, I actually get that too with slic3r. I just deleted them, they are artifacts in the XY motor mounts. I hope they don't affect anything. The part(s) don't appear visually impacted.
    Autodesk (at least this free version) seems to very much NOT be flawless. I'll go back to edit a piece and find that a segment is 5.998mm long instead of 6mm or at a 0.0000095 degree angle instead of 0.

    On the new XY Carriage options STL, I'm having problems separating the tension lever from the direct drive carriage part, both in Cura and Blender.

    I will repackage that one. I am thinking two packages; one will contain all the parts for a bowden setup and the other for direct feed.

    Thanks, two new folders are now in the files section:
    1) compressed folder with stls
    2) compressed folder with 123D files
    Both are referred to as "C-Bot Rework".

    Offtopic but I found a nice bug in Cura (15.04.3) - split an STL into parts, and then reload all objects.

    I think he means that if you try that combination of steps: first import and split an object, then re-import the same set of objects with the split ones on the build plate... something bad happens. Just tried it with slic3r and no issues.

    A note on the bottom frame inner corner brackets... they are quite likely overkill, but since I haven't actually made a 12x12 printer I will leave that up to the builder. Also, the four most inner bolts can't all be inserted with large hex head bolts, either lower profile heads most be used or only two of the four inserted (stagger them). I don't think the later will be an issue as these corners should now be very robust.

    Hi all,

    Printer is coming along nicely now. Pretty much all of the cutting and crimping and testing of the wiring is completed. Just need to check thermistor calibration, do an at-temp nip up of both nozzles, and check powered movement.

    Do most just have the X endstop (mounted on horizontal moving gantry) wiring dangling? Seems overkill to have a single cable conduit for one endstop

    Probably going to put off the remaining mounting hardware for SSR, PSU, Ramps and LCD, and use them as test prints. I also whipped up a small cable-tie mount for the sake of wiring tidiness. Thought it might be worth sharing. Link is here: M5 20x20 extrusion cable tie mount by austingeorge

    Here's one possible way to do the X endstop wiring. The wires feeding it just run with the bowden tube.

    Ah, not a bad idea. I'll have a go at something to facilitate this tonight. Thanks!

    EDIT: Just noticed you have a similar cable conduit to your toolhead to mine. Does yours resist twisting at all? Or do you have the conduit loosely clamped at one end so that it can twist?

    It's a corrugated split tube, it is firmly clamped at both ends but it has good flexibility as the head moves anywhere on the bed.

    I'll probably just run a knife down a side of the tube tonight to achieve the same effect. It's nice and rigid when clamped, just really resistant to twisting.
    Thanks again.

    I didn't know they made the same tubing unsplit, it seems to make it more flexible and it was much easier to put all of the wiring in sideways rather than pulling the wires through the end like conduit

    It sounds like you might have a different type of plastic or thickness to mine. I did get mine from a friend who had recently re-wired a house. Yours sounds like it's more of a cable-tidy type of tubing? I was worried about that kind of tube not holding a nice elevated loop under its own and it's contents' weight.

    I did look on farnell/RS and most conduit around 20mm diameter detailed a minimum bend radius of approx 20mm. That screamed "too flexible" to me.

    A cut, or staggered cuts down one side should alleviate the twist restraint though.

    very nice color! military feel :)

    BTW, do you guys use 5mm for all the screw holes? i realised 5mm is abit to tight for the screw to slot in.. i am trying to enlarge it slightly to 5.1mm so that the screwing strength will not apply to the plate instead.

    Anyone has any view on this?

    Cheers! S'pose it does now you mention it.

    M5 and all other metric bolts have clearance drill diameters, depending on the fit you're after. http://www.littlemachineshop.com/reference/tapdrillsizes.pdf

    That works, I have been designing loose fit 5mm holes to 5.4mm in all my parts (5.5mm in the link).

    Carl, if you are still interested, I am able to pull in stls into 360 and then export them out again. Just let me know what you would want for options and I'll post the step files.

    That would be great again, but let's wait a few days yet as I want to tweak my new Z endstop mount (I don't like the bolt holder, though I did include trublu832's which I do like) and see if anyone else flags any issues. That will help avoid any rework.

    FYI - I just tried BABYSTEPPING_Z in Marlin on my unit and it works!!!!!!

    For those who may not know - babystepping allows you to increment the axis by small amounts real time while printing. For a CoreXY machine it only works for the Z axis and U must also have a graphic display.

    It is implemented in ver 1.1 RC, the latest is RC3. If you r using Marlin 1.1 then all u need do is enable babystepping in ADV config file, but u must also disable BABYSTEPPING_XY as that will give u an error b/c it is not implemented for coreXY.
    If u r using 1.0.x then u need to transfer your settings to the 1.1 config files.

    When the printer is printing, u will find babystepping under the TUNE menu at the bottom of the list - I plan to raise it to the top of the list to make it quicker to get to. Rotating the dial CW makes the platform go down. CCW up. NOTE: it does not respect endstops.

    You can tweak the amt it moves with each click BABYSTEP_MULTIPLICATOR. Default is 1

    This is the section of code - the 2 changed lines r marked with //**

    / Babystepping enables the user to control the axis in tiny amounts, independently from the normal printing process
    // it can e.g. be used to change z-positions in the print startup phase in real-time
    // does not respect endstops!
    #define BABYSTEPPING //** uncomment
    #if ENABLED(BABYSTEPPING)
    //#define BABYSTEP_XY //** comment out ==not only z, but also XY in the menu......... more functions
    //not implemented for CoreXY and deltabots!
    #define BABYSTEP_INVERT_Z false //true for inverse movements in Z
    #define BABYSTEP_MULTIPLICATOR 1 //faster movements
    #endif
