Upgrading from v4 for that backlash compensation option, and running into a weird thing: M3 (Tool On) command disables one of the Y axis steppers. Everything works fine until then - jogging, or manual feed commands, but as soon as M3 is issued, one side of Y shuts down. I wonder if this is something with my wiring, however I moved everything pretty much 1:1 from v4: * X / Y / Y2 / Z connectors * X / Y / Y2 + Z (in parallel, for autosquaring) limit switches * Probe * Power supply * Interface (unplugged...) This seems to be happening on both the stock firmware (ganged Y) and any custom build I've tried (autosquared + backlash) Also, I actually don't have my VFD connected yet to the tool relay, not sure if that matters. Hm, turning it up or down, for one or all axis, didn't seem to make a difference. Is the green light just shining through from other led? Definitely haven't seen red alerts.
Yeah thats just leakage. You'll know if its red. Bright. But then Y didn't "shut down". So have to look elsewhere. Try commands line by line, perhaps a Z move hitting switches just before M3 (M3 cannot cause it in any way I can imagine. So perhaps a false perspective?) Eliminate settings (Take backup. Reset EEPROM button on Grbl Settings tab > load standard machine profile > save and reset) Anything else non standard? Different firmware or version included with CONTROL V1.0.376
Somehow I was on 1.0.377 version, rolled back to 376 and reflashed the stock firmware (regular, dual ganged axis, no autosquaring, no door). BB X32 version 1.4. Did a full reset with the included build, and left all settings default. So the default for max spindle speed is $30 = 1000. Issuing `M3 S1000` stop the spindle. Then it gets weirder - using something like `M3 S100` starting running the Y2 stepper... Shorted pins somewhere?
Vs: Load a profile. Stock grblHAL pin inversions are not directly usable. They do go through QA, so kind of unlikely. Guess one could slip through. Any wiring mishaps? Check in with support.Openbuilds.com > New Ticket if there weren't any
Sorry, my bad wording. Loaded WorkBee profile, as my build is just an inspired version of that, but left all settings default (in that profile) - which means that some axis are reverted etc, but that's inconsequential. Here is the video of that's happening - both the commands and the result... I'll check in with the support And huge THANK YOU for helping out on this forum with all the different things
To close the loop on this one: The replacement BlackBox works totally as expected. I guess it was electronics after all
