Get your whole setup working on PC first.
More beginner friendly. Follow the docs https://docs.openbuilds.com/blackbox-x32 and videos provided.

Watching the video below is a good example of wiring, setting up BlackBox, loading machine profile etc

And then a first shakedown project

Once its all nice and shaken down and reliable and all the niggles worked out, and operator trained and comfortable: then hook up Interface per Documentation ( not connecting is a good indication you didn't follow all the Interface / BlackBox docs yet) to run your day to day jobs without a computer.

Interface is supposed to plug into BlackBox's AUX1
    docs:blackbox-x32:aux-serial [OpenBuilds Documentation]
    And docs:interface:connect-blackbox-x32 [OpenBuilds Documentation]

So if you really don't have anything connected to AUX1 that would explain why your Interface says it can't talk to the BlackBox

I have been working on bringing my x32 up and running with no success so far

    1) system used to run with x4 bb
    2) x32 been flashed with updated control
    3) there has been no movement of the router
    4) even though there is no movement all limit switches have been triggered including probe
    5) most times that I try to jog I get a chunk sound
    6) I cannot find a way to reset limit switches even with unlock alarms in control.
    7) interface is disconnected

    thanks
    Joh

Do you have a working backup off it? If so > CONTROL > Grbl Settings tab > Restore Backup > Select your old 4X backup > Control applies needed changes for grblHAL > click Save and Reset when prompted

All signs the machine is missing a profile, so if you have a backup and restore it as above, it will know what machine it is. If you don't have a backup off the old one (or don't want to make one / can't make one anymore because you don't have access to the old one anymore) you'll have to start with a fresh profile: CONTROL > Grbl Settings tab > Select a machine from the list > Save and Reset when prompted

When you got the 4X wired up initially you also had to load the machine profile first :)

My intuition also agrees. I started to go down that road this morning. My unit is a modified Workbee with a higher gantry. Which I can correct for. It was suggested that I use a lead machine because I have a screw drive. I didn’t know what model number would correspond to my 5x4’ machine. Would you know? Thanks John

I loaded new profile for lead 1515

    - I am not sure about 1. Limit switch installed, I have it on the left to make switch white
    - lead 1515 installed, saved and restart
    - bb reset button pressed
    - each x,y,z gives chunk when joged
    - all 4 limit switches red on troubleshooting screen, Cannot reset with unlock alarm or anything else I have tried
    - I assume if I get past the limit switch’s locked, it might work.

    thanks John

Sounds like you DIDN'T load the machine profile :) (CONTROL > Grbl Settings tab > Select machine from the List > Save and Reset when prompted)

Tick it ON "IF" you have Limits switches installed (its a simple yes no option to enable Hard Limits and Homing lower down on the page for you with a simple click)

    Also, wrong/no profile

Sure? Are you on CONTROL V1.0.370?

If I hold down physical trigger switch the indicator on control/troubleshooting goes from red triggered to green off. As soon as I release, it goes back to red triggered. That seems to indicate something in profile is reversed. Are soft and hard limits both supposed to be Disabled, they are. I have changed a few things but no luck. I guess the bottom line is if there is something to change I don’t understand what it is.
I seem to remember that on the Interface it was easy to invert lines but even though my interface is partially connecting, A1, it indicates it is not. So none of commands are enabled. I have checked the connection.
I know what bool is but not mask/bool?

Yes, Our profiles sets key values for you. If loaded (and if loaded from a current version of CONTROL. Sure you were on V1.0.370? Sure you clicked Save?)

Post a Grbl Settings backup for review (CONTROL > Grbl Settings tab > Backup Settings button)

    Your choice.

Not sure what you mean here? If you had in Interface already, are we upgrading from a BlackBox 4X? What is "A1"
Get the machine working fine before switching to Interface though, and if its an older Interface revisit the Interface docs and do the X32 specific stuff too

Mask = bitmask = usually applies to "per axis" options. Don't worry about it. Use our Profiles!

    Thanks for your thoughts

profile is lead 1515 and saved/reset. Saved came on blue, I clicked on it, and it went gray. Hard limits was enabled and saved it went gray.

I am in control 1.0.370. Will disregard the mask. The interface was working with x4. Interface was purchased in the beginning. Interface documentation says (no preparation required) for x32 v1.2. I had a non working interface in the beginning, I returned it and it worked with x4 fine.

Ahh I posted my first backup can I send it to you. I will have to send it to you through my other machine. I am writing in my iPhone. I have control in my desktop. Thanks John

Confirms your settings is wrong. Load them, from CONTROL 1.0.370 > Grbl Settings tab > Select machine from the list > Save and reset when prompted

At some point you were still loading old 4X settings per the backup you sent

Wonderful development, I loaded the profile again and the machine is almost working now. I changed nothing but it loaded properly. I know it is current since the profile line $320=grblHAL. Thanks!

jog works in all directions except one y is reversed. Is this a profile change or wiring change. I couldn’t find an easy solution in the profile.

INTERFACE loads some info so I know the hardware is connected but it says “Grbl…..not connecting”

I thought I could change one of the y’s direction using the interface but I was incorrect. I guess I will have to make a wireing change/swap.

The wires I changed had to do with y2. The nema 23 has printed on the motor BlackA+ , Green A- , RedB + , BlueB- . So since the 4 conductor wire out of the motor is fixed and doesn’t necessary require a conductor block I reversed the order of the wires at the x32. unfortunately I get the same problem with one motor turning one direction and the other motor going in the opposite direction with a nuance. When I give y a jog command the gantry immediately starts in the correct direction, then after 2 commands the gantry starts going one y in one direction and the outer in the opposite.

I checked the wireing several times.

    any thoughts John

Checked wires and you were correct. Offending connection was hidden but once found and fixed the cnc operates smoothly and in the correct direction.

    thanks

Today having a problem with control that was ok yesterday. Can’t find network in search network. Proper up is 192.168.6….when I scan after changing 4 to a 6 I always come up with 0 found. When I click on openbuilds it comes up fine. Do you have any ideas? Thanks john
