Created a small Z axis for the ACRO motion system. I wanted to more easily adjust the height of the laser to accommodate various thicknesses of material, without having to manually loosen screws to adjust. Also wanted to be able to vary the height for multiple cutting passes on some materials. Try to stick to a similar aesthetic as the original ACRO system and plates.

    Hi Romamaker,

    I would like to build this as I also have the same laser diode unit as you, the opt 6W unit.
    I really like the low profile design, one of the best I have seen, and I want to keep the carriage nice and light as far as weight goes. I already have the low profile nema17 and most of the bits required to build this.

    I built an Acro 1010 a few years ago but never finished it, have decided its time to pull my finger out and finish it off so I can use it.

    Anyhow a couple of questions on the Z build you have presented here, Have you got the a dxf or something for the new plate and I would like to 3D print the nema17 mount but you did not mention or provide the stl file that you used.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the inquiry. Let me look up my files for the project, and I'll get back to you. Hopefully later today or tomorrow. But I should have these around here somewhere still.

    I had a few spare minutes, and was able to find the files.

    I've attached the STL for the motor mount and a DXF file of the pieces I cut out of acrylic. I do not typically use DXF files, so hopefully this exported from Fusion correctly. Should be a total of 6 items. A larger plate that attaches to the X axis. A smaller plate that the laser attaches to. And 4 spacers that are sandwiched between the larger plate and the 2 rails. If you have any other questions, please let me know!

    Thankyou so much Romamaker, I really appreciate you digging those up.

    I am a Fusion 360 guy now too, have been for a while now.

    Looks like I have an easter project to do, will update my Acrocadabra build and you will certainly get a mention in my log.

    Off to order some bits that I will need...
