Good to hear that things are progressing! I'll continue to check back and wait semi-patiently. ;) Good luck with the real milling project and the upgrade to the 608zz bearing for the spindle.

The main thing for the mill test is the software to generate the code and the upgrade is really a matter of milling the new spindle plates :)

I need some popcorn and a pop. This is just like watching a movie trailer and waiting for the full length film to be released. ;)

Please release the files. I'd love to be a beta tester for this design. I already have the Nema 17 motors and the electronics. All I need is the fixture and this one fits the bill for what I would like in my first CNC router.

I will be releasing it in due time.
I'm almost done my OX and 3d printer and they will be used to make a few changes to the build.
I will also be taking the advise of a previous user that suggested a change on how the X tension20 tightens onto the rail, adjustment will be done from the outside to provide better access.
Very minor things to change and to make it even better I will be making some test kits that will be anodized ;)
I have not heard from my previous beta tester and I'm going to take that as a good sign because after he had it assembled, poofff! Gone :)
Prob building and milling away till his hearts content lol
    I hope! :D

Thanks for the reply. I have a buddy with an impressive CNC router (4'x8') that will cut these out for me once the files are available. Good luck with your other projects.

Not sure if it fits the bill for your use, But I had it bookmarked on my laptop from awhile back and just rediscovered it.

It is used in conjunction with eagle to optimize Gcode for milling PCBs.

I cry a little every time I check on this project and see that it hasn't progressed any more. I love the design and wish the files were available.

I would be interested in a update and the files as well. Any news on how your build is holding up / progressing?

I still like this micro mill, Now I have the tools to make one ( thanks to my c-beam machine ) I really want to set one up with a Laser for engraving duties or a drag knife. I know you have not shared the files yet, So I thought it would be a fun exercise to see what I could come up with from your photos. ( Hope you don't mind ;)) When I am done with modeling; it would be interesting to compare how close I came or how far off lol..

Thanks, As it is Roberts original design. I would like to have his permission first if I was to post any files I create based on his design.

It has been a bit harder then I first thought it would be! But it has been a very fun side project.. Pretty much all done. ( not doing all the electronics and bolts ).. I will be going over it the next few days to double check all my measurements / dimension would actually work in real life.

Here are the plates compared to the photo I was working from! Everything seems to be in order after reviewing all my dimensions. I resized the holes properly for the M5 and M3 bolts as well as the M5 holes that will need to be tapped.

I also sent a PM to @Robert Hummel so he could review my file. I am very curious how well ( or bad ) I did compared to his original files.. Depending on any revisions, My next learning exercise will be drawing them in fusion 360 now I have the measurements from my sketchup file to work from.

Just a little 3d printing to double check everything. :)

I made a few more revisions / refinements after test printing the plates. Only part left is the Z-axis motor spacers. The access holes on the lower part of the x-axis plate could be a bit smaller as well.

    Edit:

Complete ! With the OP's permission as this is his project, I have no problem posting my rendition of the files for everyone's review.

I got the go ahead  Here is my rendition of the plate files needed to build a Stinger-V inspired cnc. Please keep in mind I reverse engineered this from known data and photos. If anyone runs across any errors or wrong dimensions please let me know! This way, I can update and correct the file set...

    Enjoy and happy building :D

My build has turned out very well  warping up wiring and doc's in the next week or two and will have a full build posted.

I had to set it aside for almost a year, to many projects / designs and not enough time lol. Ended up designing a custom Z-axis solution as I did not need to mount a spindle; using this Very capable Nema 14 motor that weights almost nothing "Here" to build a Stinger "L" Micro Laser :D
