Looks like a good, solid bench - is that a torsion box top?

    Hi Alex

No its not - but the frame is all 2x1 and the tops and shelves are 22mm MR MDF. There is a top, then another plate that is exactly 1000x1000 and then the spoiler board. Its very sturdy though!

Just tried to add some images and it asks for a URL as opposed to selecting a file from my pc?

You should be able to "upload a file" from your PC - on my phone so can't demonstrate.

That looks nice and solid - I've been trying to explain to someone (on another site) today that fixing legs to the framework of a workbee is not a good way to support it :banghead:

    Question on bearings please?

I have been told to fit very good quality bearings - How are you finding bearing wear?

I believe these are the bearing sizes i need for the plates i have ordered?
    688-2Z 8x16x5 Flanged Bearing x 6
    688Z 8x16x5 Bearing x 2

Should i be paying just a few pounds or dollars for these or should i be paying 20 to 30 pounds or dollars for a pair?

    Thanks

Interestingly, if you bought the similar quality in imperial an $8 metric bearing becomes a $30 imperial measurement bearing. I went with metric because I could find cheaper components. I had my 1/2" acme lead screws turned down to 12 mm by a friend with a lathe.

    Hi all,

Probably been asked thousands of times - however, i have been having a few issues.......

Firstly my limit switches are only twin wire and came pre wired & soldered. I didn't like the limit switches, so cut them off and purchased new limit switches, but wired them the same way. Connecting to the Blackbox i noted that all the limits were open and its not until I downloaded the wiring diagram that i noted they were all wrong for the blackbox.

I had hoped and i dont know why, but thought i needed 2 limits per axis, but when i put two switches on from the same axis, neither work? Why is this? They are now working fine as singles based on the blackbox wiring configuration.

I did get really confused as to why it was homing so far away from me, but having read a lot of information on here, i do understand now.

    Sorry, another question, machine size?
Is that the inside to inside of the profiles or the size of the actual cutting area?

    Thanks

    Actual cuttable area

Get some Xtension switches Xtension Limit Switch Kit and follow the docs: docs:blackbox:connect-xtension-limit [OpenBuilds Documentation]

Won't be any duty - below the threshold - just VAT at 20% and you don't always get charged that on small value items.
Ratrig in Portugal and Ooznest in the UK are official Openbuilds re-sellers.
    Alex.

Correction - Ooznest are no longer listing the Openbuilds Xtension limit switches.

Thanks Alex, Ooznest don't stock and we are out of Europe - but will check their price, thanks.
Can you have 2 proximity switches on the same axis with these then?

Did you wire the two switches in parallel or in series? If you did it in series they will not work, just like you described.

Peter, just noticed your other comment - 'actual cuttable area'.

So how do i calculate that? so based on the widest cutter that i can get in a 1/4 router and then work out the off set to the centre of the cutter from the profile?
    Sorry Peter

I am not an electrician, but do have basic knowledge. The diagram shows 3 complete feeds, so i put 2 feeds into each terminal. Either way, there are only 3 terminals on the blackbox so i would have to put two feeds into one terminal?

    Thanks

Jog machine far left, zero, then jog to just before crashing into the other end. Note number in DRO.

    Repeat for other axis.

If its for CAM settings, its not critical, just shows you the gridsize - so you can plan your jobs without exceeding the machine size. If you are also using the values as Soft Limits (max travel: Grbl v1.1 Configuration · gnea/grbl Wiki ) be a little more precise

Yes, exactly as the description says. All the GNDs together, all the SIGs together, all the V+s togethers. How you do it (run multiple wires back to controller terminals, or daisy chain second switch off first switch), etc are all up to you

    Hi all - HELP!

Ok, set my machine up as Spinx 1050, set lit switches and all working. As Peter advised, set my x and y axis to 786 after zeroi g and running from limit to limit. But every time I Home, it smashes my X and Y limit switches?

Post your grbl settings here so we can see if there's an issue with any of them.

I can't see anything wrong with your homing settings - seek and feed rate seem OK to me. I don't use OB control myself, however, so you will probably have to wait for someone like @Peter Van Der Walt or @sharmstr. I can't see anything that would cause it to crash into the switches.
Side issue - was there a reason to disable soft limits?
    Alex.

Nothing sticks out in the grbl settings. Are you sure the limit switches are working? Have you gone into the troubleshooting tab to verify? The status should show off/green until they are triggered.
