Hey I have a really annoying issue, the blackbox get disconnected from openbuild control software randomly during carving. Does anyone know how to fix that ?
There si absolutely no logic why this happened, it's unpredictable. And this is driving me crazy every time this happened.
    Thanks

First thing to check is that you have disabled "usb selective suspend" on your PC - that is a different setting from the Windows sleep settings.
    There are other possible causes.
Mains wiring or (even worse) vfd and spindle wiring can interfere with your usb connection, as can static build up on a dust extraction hose.
Try a different usb lead and, if available a different PC (but a different PC will need the ftdi drivers installed as well as control)
That's just some suggestions - do come back if none of those help.
    Alex.

Thanks guys for your replies, I will buy new shielded cables for my steppers.
When I want to plug the Earth of my 25v supply while the black box is usb plugged to the pc it makes weird song and the 25v supply turn off. If I don't plug the Earth to my supply that works well. Do I need to cut off the 5V cable from the usb cable?
I will buy some ferrites cores as well how many of them do I need? Do I need one for each steppers cable at each end of cable, or only one by cable.
I already have a ferrite core on my usb cable, does it need one more? And does my spindle power cable (230V) need one?

That sounds like something wired terribly wrong somewhere. And no you shouldn't need to cut up USB cables. Check power sockets, try different computer. Watch out, whatever is wrong in your house/machine wiring can destroy your electronics.

Just space limits and USB away from motor and AC cables a little.

    Hi,

just curious, how can the problem be eliminated by using another PC (from old to a brand new)?

I have the same issue, but mine seems to be poor connection with usb cable, changed cable twice but the problem is the connection into black box, if I put some leverage to one side or the other it works fine, until I can get someone to repair black box connection an elastic band seems to put enough leverage on to make it work

If its still in warranty (and you never tripped over the USB cable damaging the socket) , also check in with Support > New Ticket
