First of Robert, thanks for all the great designs, and LD2X is looking nice!
I have 2 small questions for you.

    1. I am trying to build an LD2X from scratch, etching my own board and your diagram has been of great help, however is there somewhere also an diagram of all the component locations or a circuit diagram? That would make the soldering job alot easier for me.

    2. I believe I read somewhere that you produce your boards by etching, however what pcb's do you use as your base material, so that you are able to get that almost glass like finish? Because those things are gorgeous!

Ty for the kind words :)
The PCB I use for my boards
    http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=400569497455
I print my positive films with the circuit design, then expose the board with my UV box.
I then develop it in positive solution and mix my etch fluid, remove all un wanted copper, Drill holes, clean traces and tin.
The boards are then light sanded on top with 1000 grit paper.
Then a coloured clear coat is laid down before assembly :)
Hope the new LD3X showed up in good condition ;)

Colored clearcoat, never thought of that! Mine is far more bland being standard green and non glossy. I have done my best trying to figure out what goes where, going from your pictures and parts list. Is my configuration correct? Was a bit unsure about the smaller caps and their location.

yeah it looks great. I am waiting for my order from openbuild for some more parts before I hook it up and test. My plans are to add a z axis for focus and to build a drag knife.

Thank you for the board layout. I laid out and made my own yesterday, but honestly I like yours better. I think I will redo it. Did you layout the schematic in ExpressSCH? If it is OK with you, I would like that as well. Specifically, I have no relays on hand, but I do have a handful of IRL540 fets. I could just make the change directly on the board, but I expect if it is linked to the schematic life would be simpler.

[Edit] - I managed to make the changes I wanted, but would still appreciate the schematics regardless. I will etch, populate, and test my board in the morning. Assuming everything goes well I will post the layout, pictures, and what I changed/added.

By the way, I use a free software called Paperless Printer that I use when making circuit boards. It will print anything as a file in a number of formats including PNG and PDF. It is a really handy tool to have, great for adding text or graphics to your boards.

Guys, what power supply you are using for Laser V engraver? I mean what voltage and curent parameters?

    12v 280w PC power supply :)

    P.s
Sorry for the long wait on LD3X
The boards did not meet my spec :(
I will be doing them myself ;)

It's Ok. :) I will try to make LD2X by myself with my own modifications. :)

I will be using laser diode m140 445nm. I saw in your early post's you wrote that m140 laser diode can handle max 1.5A, but I thin it is possible run it on 1,5A normally, because in m140 datasheet is written that this laser diode can handle even 1,8A. ;)

Yes that is it's peak amps, I never run anything full out they tend not to last :)

I have not hooked my the LDX3 test unit you sent me yet. Is there anything I need to worry about with it or should replace before installing?

    Nope :)
The PCB maker did a crap! Job I could not sell them, breaks in the traces and poor hole drilling :(

Can you explain me,why is this better to use two stepsticks for Y axis? (comparing with LD2X) :)

That way you can use nema17, I used nema11 in the laser v build.
The new laser Fiber OX runs on the LD3X and runs 3 nema23 and 1 nema17

    Man that sucks.
I do have to say your boards are worth the price. They are great quality to the point you almost feel bad putting them in a enclosure where they can't be seen.

Robert Hummel, can you share your LD3X PCB scheme and part list? :)

Now I'm trying to figure out few things... As Im going to set my laser power to 1,3 - 1,5 amps, so then in LD2X I need to change LM317 (1,5A) voltage regulators to LM350 (3A)?
    Am I correct? :)
