I'll try to brief but some detail is relevant, also some terms may not be accurate but I'm comparing the unit to my 3D Printer knowledge.

Ok so I inherited a partially completed c-beam xl from a school they were gonna toss in the trash. I fully dismantled it and used the Docs https://openbuilds.com/builds/c-beam-machine-xlarge.3675/
to rebuild and along the way found it was missing screws, wrong size screws, etc.

It was only assembled to the Frame, with boards, Motors, Spindle mount, etc. Basically No electronics.
I purchased, a 24v psu and a Black Box, and Limits switch kits. Wired every thing using this Video Tutorial
OpenBuilds LEAD Machine Electronics and Software (Using BlackBox)

Here are the Problems: I was able to get the software installed, Select the Correct Model and CNC and I can Jog and Home the machine. But:

the Control software does not display the relative Head position on the Board, X,Y & Z all show -0.20"

In the Troubleshooting Tab section Inputs / Endstops the Z-Limit status is always "on" (and yes I did tick "Limit switches Installed") on the GBRL Tab

Lastly in the video at 1:23:08 when the Limit switch is manually depressed that triggers an alarm state pop up. i don't get that, my ends stops work and the led on the switch light up when engaged, but the software doesn't seem to see every thing.

    Thanks in advance.

    - Which version of CONTROL are you running? (should be 1.0.243 or later)
    - Do you have another computer to test on?
    - What is the computer setup (windows/mac/linux? Version? etc)

It must 1.0.243 if that is the latest, I did an update yesterday when i was working on it.

I have a few machines, the unit I'm using is a laptop running Windows 10 Home (not sure which build). All my machines are running various builds of Windows 10 most of them Pro.

Indicates the frontend is not getting websocket responses from the backend (on TCP ports 3000 and 3001, maybe a local firewall/antivirus etc is blocking?)

Also press ctrl+shift+i and check the Console tab for clues

Try a different PC as a quick test?

Well I just got some time to troubleshoot and poof the problems gone... I went into the console and the only thing that I saw that was odd was a red message about error something obtaining property of Driver...
I should have screenshot it but here's what i did next:

I manually depressed all three Limit switches and each one triggered an alarm state pop up. ;)

I then went to the Troubleshooting Tab section Inputs / Endstops and the Z-Limit status was "off" as it should be....:zipit:

Finally I jogged each axis and noted that the Control software does now display the relative Head position on the Board... :banghead:

So great problem solved by magic...

I think what may have happened is that after I turned on my laptop last night to work on the machine that when Control software wanted to perform the update, I simply restarted the Control software instead of restarting the Laptop.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully this is the biggest problem I run into. :D

Well yes and no, I would suspect turning off the computer and back on would accomplish the same task in the the end, but it works now which is what important.
