Just starting here. Waiting for the parts to arrive to build a laser engraving machine.
Hi Mark I'm a newbie reading all the daily new builds but this supposed build is just a spam advert for hair loss stuff: https://openbuilds.com/builds/https-alphajackedhelp-com-boli-testoboost.5919/
Thank you Keith
@flyingDutchman Possibly be due to belt tension or possibly the steps/mm setting is slightly off. Even 0.05mm off makes a big difference.
Liked that 1st CNC build vey much and would love to get my hand on any plans and designs if available. If you are willing to share, please let me know. I also noticed that you were away long, and sure hope that everything is OK now. Cheers.
Hi Mark, I'm just getting started with DIY CNC machines and love all the info here at Openbuilds. I want to build a machine similar to the Ox you did but I'll have to do it in increments. Do you think I could use Corian (a solid surface counter-top material) to make the plates, it's 1/2 inch thick, very sturdy and machines nicely. Thanks, I'm chompin at the bit to get started!
Awesome idea and I think it would work great! I would love to see this build so please be sure to share. Thank you
Hi do you sell the stainless ox kits? saw someone with one and would like to know more! thanks
Yes I have made some batches of gantry plates and other stuff available through makersupplies.dk - check it out. Cheers, Martin
I'm converting the file to Grbl(mm) gcode format. I sometimes wonder if there is a problem with the format?
I have used my Ox router on some small projects but I consistently get problems with more complicated ones. When attempting to route a Celtic Weave (from Aspire) I get slippage, apparently from 1 pass to the next, ie material is routed away where it should be retained.
What could be happening?
Hi Mark, I'm a newbie, can you tell me how do I build from scratch and make sure I got all the part I need ?
Hi @RedGreen Welcome to the OpenBuilds club and to the world of CNC machines! You found the right place to start. Just pick a machine you would like to build and join in on the discussions on the Builds page (tab at the top of the build). There are lots of great folks ready to help you get up and running. Have fun :)
Hi Kyo. I want to build your Sphinx C Bream CNC with working area 120cm x 60cm . But I don't know how much is length I need to cut my C-Beam for the X & Y Axis , also the V Slot for the base. Need your advice :)
A 1m x 1m build would get you very close to this and only requires you to double each length. To get 1.2m you would need a 1.5m y-axis and lead screw availability is then a concern.
Hi, thanks for your reply. For 1M x 1M C beam, what is the machine working area?
Because the availability for C Beam in my country is low.
.was trying to build a mini CNC (core xy)..whenever I press x or y both the steppers rotate.. .. tried different programs changed com port... replaced stepper driver but still it’s there.. please help
My setup: Arduino Uno
CNC shield v3
Power: 19v 4amp
I just joined Openbuilds and on my first scurry around the site your name popped up strait away. Given that we're both in Dorset I thought it rude for me not to say hello.
I joined basically as I figured it was time to set too and build a CNC and a 3D printer and this site seems to be right up my street.
Hi Mark, would you like my Solidworks model of the ACRO Laser system?
Your model of the ACRO System would make a great addition to our Resources section. http://openbuilds.com/projectresources/
Greetings MaryD. Do you know of anyone I could contact in order to obtain an RMA number for a xPRO V3 Controller that is intermittent?
The part store can fix you right up! Contact Us/Live Chat(when available) in the bottom right hand corner of the Part Store. http://openbuildspartstore.com/
I'm from Algeria and i'm glad to meet u.
I would like to talk to someone from OpenBuilds right now. Please Call xxx xxx xxxx.
Feel free to Contact Us/Live Chat(when available) in the bottom right hand corner of the Part Store. http://openbuildspartstore.com/ or post your questions directly on the forum. Thanks!
I love the MiniMill and plan to purchase the build kit. However, I am already interested in increasing the X axis travel and thought about purchasing a longer piece of C-beam and longer lead screw to do so. What is the maximum you think can be supported off of the Y axis travel C-beam without changing the entire design. I'm willing to purchase reinforcement pieces as necessary.
Hi Michael. Great minds think alike. Pop on over to the MiniMill discussion group and see what they think too. http://openbuilds.com/threads/openbuilds-minimill.9301/
If there is a way to send someone a private message on here, I guess I am over looking it. I have the files for the carriage, but would rather not post them in a public area. I am providing the OpenSCAD code I used so if there are any changes that need to be made, you can do it.
If you send me a private message on Thingiverse (ElmoC), I can get the files emailed to you.
Private message can be sent by clicking on the envelope icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen...or follow this link http://openbuilds.com/conversations/
Would you still be interested in printing parts for the OX CNC?
My friend i salute to you, i'm from Chile and i'm insteresting to buy the same project like you: http://www.openbuilds.com/builds/stainless-ox.1914/ how cost to you this projetct? Greetings and blessings from Chile!
Hi Pancho, From Chili I think you should source the parts from OpenBuildsPartstore. However, there are some important elements that can not be supplied. These include gantry plates, z-limit switches, dual belt end brackets, tape, and spindle bracket for 43mm (like Kress 1050).
These items you can get from makersupplies.dk
Prices you see on makersupplies.dk are including 25% VAT. Shipments to addresses outside EU will not have to pay this VAT - but you may be charged to import by Chile.
To get a quote for shipment please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of items you need.
Hope this helps you on with your considerations.
Cheers from Denmark, Martin

Hello. I am new in this section I would like to give me some guides for research on how i can build a 3d printer and the theory behind this. Thank you very much.
Just completing my machine build. Using C-Beam and X-ProV3. Using UniversalGcodeSender with example files.
Can you tell me when will the release of your new laser cutter be please?
any more details maybe?
Sorry Oliver but I'm only a forum moderator and not an insider with the company and I have exactly the same limited amount of information that you do. The new laser's announcement was as much a surprise to me as it was to everyone else.
Strange that I can not find anything here on site about pending laser engraver release?
No news, nothing.
Do you have any date, anything?
More details coming this week...
Friday is fun project day!
Sending you a request.
Need some advice regarding choosing between C- Beam XL or OX.
Plans are to later add 17W diode laser on Z axis.
Which one is to preffer. If I choose OX I will almost att once change it to OX Metal with lead screws so cost will be the same.
I do not like belts on any machine.
All tips are wellcome.
It sounds like your best set up right out of the gate would be to go with the lead screw driven C-Beam XL if you are wanting a lead driven machine to work with a diode this should work well for you. You can always use it to make plates as well if you decide to go with a larger machine down the road.
Changed the 250mm supports with 400mm c-beam, accurately cut by Ooznest (no filing, thank God), now I have great Z travel on the XLarge.
